IIT Bhubaneswar Hostel Fees: Rooms, Food & Rules

Yes, the college offers Residential Facilities and girls hostel has been established, since it is a second gen IIT. This year the total intake is 489 students and the college ensures to provide residential facilities for all the students. In first year, Girls have double occupancy with private washrooms and from second year we have single occupancy with common washrooms. For Boys, It is single occupancy with common washrooms. We have 6 hostels in all and all of them are named after rivers. Boys Hostels are RHR (Rushikulya Hall of Residence), BHR (Brahmaputra Hall of Residence), MHR (Mahanadi Hall of Residence) and for Girls it is GHR (Ganga Hall of Residence), SHR (Subarnarekha Hall of Residence) and Sangam Hall of Residence. There is a T.V. room, Common Study Room and Activity Room in every hostel. Yes the hostels are separate for boys and girls. Mess food is comparatively hygienic. The mess provides food 4 times in a day i.e., Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks and Dinner. The hostel rules are not very strict, there are no restriction to move in and out of the campus or hostel. There must be an entry made if we are travelling inside the campus after 10 stating the purpose and the time we enter and if we have to go out of the campus, we will have to make entries at the gate. I love staying in the hostel as there is every facility available like room cleaning, laundry services etc. It is difficult to adjust when it comes to food as I am South Indian and we demand spices but there is absence of it in their appetite, rest else everything here is fine and quite comfortable live a fine life.Read Full Review

We have residential facilities at our campus. The hostels are new and feel like living in apartments. First year students are given the new hostels having mess in the ground floor. Each hostel include one stationary shop, one fruit shop, one night canteen and one barber shop at the ground floor for the residents. Hostel management provides indoor game equipment like carrom board, chess, bats, balls, etc. Bathrooms and water facilities available in the hostel are also good. The hostels here are quite good it's the only domain I will say that it is even better than top 7 IITs. Rooms and of single occupancy for everyone and the food quality is decent. You feel different taste if you are not from Odisha. Since food is overall aligned to taste of Odisha moreover attempt is made to include dishes from every region.Read Full Review
