Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology - OUAT Bhubaneswar was established on 24^th August, 1962 and became operational from 1^st February, 1963. The State University is working under the approval of UGC and ICAR. It provides education in the field of Agriculture, Engineering, and Science.

Vision: The University’s vision is to be recognised globally as a leading Farm University providing quality education, research, extension and outreach in the field of agriculture and allied sciences. It envisions a sustainable development in agriculture for the growth of the economy of the state and livelihood security to the farmers.

Mission: OUAT’s mission is to produce skilled human professionals who can render their services to the farming community. It aims to expand technology, science, and engineering while utilising water, energy, land, labor, and other resources.

OUAT Bhubaneswar provides a wide range of courses like M.Sc, M.V.Sc, M.F.Sc, M.Tech, B.Sc (Hons), B.V.Sc & A.H, B.Tech, B.F.Sc, etc in different disciplines. Research programs in the university are provided in the fields of Agricultural Science, Fishery Science, Horticultural Science, and Animal Science. These courses are run in the following colleges operating under the university:

• College of Basic Science & Humanities, Bhubaneswar
• College of Horticulture, Chiplima, Sambalpur
• College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Bhubaneswar

To be admitted to the university, eligible students must qualify in the entrance exam conducted by the university. Students can submit the online application form “A” and “B” on the official website of the university, post confirming their eligibility criteria for the particular courses. It is mandatory to submit form B otherwise the applicant’s candidature will be cancelled. Additionally, reservation criteria of the State Government will be followed. The reservation criteria for admission are:

• ICAR - 20%
• SC - 8%
• VCI - 15%
• ST - 12%
• PwD - 5%
• Green Card Holders - 5%
• Armed Forces Personnel - 3%

The eligibility criteria of a few of the courses are listed in the table below:

For Bachelor’s Program:

* The minimum qualifying percentage for admission to all UG courses is 50% for General category and 40% for SC / ST / PWD / Kashmiri Migrant / Kashmiri Pandit (Non-Migrants) / Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non-Migrants) categories.

For Master’s Program:

* The minimum qualifying percentage for admission to all PG courses is 60% (minimum OGPA - 6.60/10) for general category and 50% (minimum OGPA - 5.60/10) for SC / ST / PWD / Kashmiri Migrant / Kashmiri Pandit (Non-Migrants) / Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non-Migrants) categories.

The Universities student receive a number of scholarships which are awarded by the State Government, ICAR, and OCAR. Students of Jammu and Kashmir are entitled to receive the Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS). Different scholarships awarded to the deserving candidates include National Talent Scholarship, Merit Scholarship, KALIA Scholarship, Medhabruti Scholarship, Post-Matric Scholarship, Post Graduate Scholarship, etc. One student can avail only one scholarship at a time.
