Kumaun University

To provide a platform to the students where they can reach out to the corporate world easily, the university has established a Placement & Counselling Cell (PCC). This cell helps the students in grooming their overall personality so that they can become employable. It acts as a bridge between industries and students and helps the students in finding a job that matches their interests and education. The major objectives of PCC are:

• To impart professional skills to the students so that they can fulfill the organisation’s recruitment process.
• To provide proper counselling to the students so that they can opt for a career that falls in their field of interest.
• To maintain professional and formal relations with the major recruiting companies and organise on-campus and off-campus placement drives.
• To ogranises various workshops, seminars, conferences, industrial visits, guest lectures, etc. for the students.
• To provide the students with various internship programs in their field of interest.
• To impart resume-building expertise to students along with other pre-placement talks like mock interviews, PI, and GD.

PCC also organises Entrepreneurship Development Programs in which the students are motivated and encouraged to talk about their business ideas and start-up plans. This program helps the students understand the business environment properly and interaction with industry experts provides exposure to the students.

Some companies where the students of Kumaun University were placed are Ritual Holidays, Radio Mirchi, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, Airtel, Policy Bazaar, Amar Ujala, Muthoot Finance, etc.

The campus of the university is contemporary and is located at Mall Road, Dugalkhola, Almora. The infrastructure of the university is world-class and fulfills all the academic needs of the students. The faculty of the university is supportive and helps the students in fulfilling their academic goals. The university has well-furnished labs, modern and furnished classrooms, canteens, and sports facilities, along with various other services and facilities like:

• Library: The University has a well-stocked and maintained Central Library with books and other reading materials covering various academic branches. The library provides online and offline reading material to the students like 70000+ books, 2600+ textbooks, 1620000+ e-books, 67000+ references, 5900+ theses, 4500+ e-journals, newspapers, magazines, and other online databases. Apart from this, the library has a spacious and well-lit reading room, baggage counter, internet centre, etc. Computer systems are also installed in the library to promote online research among the students.
• Hostel: Kumaun University, DSB Campus has 6 hostels in total, out of which three are for boys and the other three are for girls. The university has hostel facilities with furnished, spacious, and clean rooms. The campus of the hostel is student friendly and for the safety of the hostellers, wardens and security guards are present on the campus 24x7.
• Health Facilities: The University focuses on providing health facilities to the students. It provides first aid services to the students who are in medical need. In addition to this, for medical emergencies, the university has an ambulance that is present on the campus 24x7.
