Sir L A Shah Law College

Founded on June 20, 1927, Sir L A Shah Law College is a renowned public educational institution located in Ahmedabad, Gujrat. It is the oldest law college in the state of Gujarat. This college is affiliated with Gujarat University, is NAAC accredited and approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). It offers a 3-year LL.B, and a 2-year LL.M degree at the UG and PG levels respectively. The doctoral level programs i.e., Ph.D in Law is also available at the college.

Vision: The vision of Sir L A Shah Law College is to impart quality education to the UG & PG students in the field of law and equip them with right skills, and capabilities. This would help them understand the interpretation of law to prove justice to people irrespective of their caste, creed, sex, or religion.

Mission: The college's mission is to provide student-centred teaching, well-built infrastructure for smooth learning experience, and leadership in legal education. The college also seeks to maintain the status of a premier institution as a law college in Gujarat.

Sir LA Shah Law College admission process for its UG & PG programs is based completely on the merit secured in the last qualifying exams. For Ph.D admission, students have to appear for an entrance test. Please check out the table presented below for more information on the eligibility criteria:

Admission Process

Sir L A Shah Law College admission process is conducted by Gujarat University. Since the college is affiliated with Gujarat University, the admission is allotted by this university through the Centralised Admission Process. The online registration is done through the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) portal. Candidates must follow the steps mentioned below to apply for the LL.B and LL.M programs offered by Sir L A Shah Law College:

• Visit the official website of GCAS
• Register yourself using particulars like name, date of birth, mobile no., and valid email id
• An OTP will be sent on the mobile no., and email id for verification
• Candidates will be given registration no., and password for the entire admission process
• After registration, candidates have to fill in their detailed information including personal and educational details
• Upload documents like photograph, signature, and marksheet
• Further, the candidates have to give their preference of colleges and lock it
• Pay a requisite amount of registration fee through Net Banking / Credit Card / Debit Card
• Review the filled application form to avoid any errors
• Submit the application and it will be automatically sent to the respective email IDs

Here is a list of required documents that candidates have to upload while submitting the application form through the GCAS portal:

• A recent passport size colour photograph
• Applicant's signature in black / blue ink in a white background
• Class 10 & 12 Marksheet
• Bachelor’s degree Marksheet & Certificate for PG students
• School Leaving and Migration Certificate
• Scanned copies of the domicile, family income, category, freeship certificates
• Scanned copies of Aadhar Card and PAN Card for identity proof

Initially, the Gujarat University will release a provisional merit list informing the students about their position in the merit list. On a prescribed date, the final merit list will be published based on students’ merit, category, choice of college, and availability of seats. Candidates must download the admission allotment letter. Further, they must visit the Legal Education Centre for document verification, and pay the entire fees. After verification of original mark sheets/ certificates, the college will select the name of the student who is offered admission, and from GCAS portal an OTP will be sent to the students on their registered mobile no. On entering the OTP given by students, the college will grant admission.
