Krishna University [KrU], Machilipatnam established in 2008 is a State University. KrU Machilipatnam is approved by UGC. Admission in Krishna University is offered in Engineering, Management and Humanities at UG/ PG/ Diploma/ Doctorate/ Certificate level with scholarship benefits to deserving students.
The delight of Krishna University Machilipatnam is 40 miles from one the largest commercial hub of Andhra Pradesh, Vijaywada. The university is now a three-decade old university and in this three decade it has become one of the best private universities of the state. The symbol of the university has a story attached to it but above all it’s a university that others can only envy about. The current Vice Chancellor of the university is Prof. S. Ramakrishna Rao. Krishna University offers just a few courses as the university is the rarest of rare and the cultural values which are dying in this fast pace world is being restored here.
Krishna District on the whole is a cultural capital of Andhra Pradesh and in this cultural capital a university that has kept is most beloved dance form, Kuchipudi alive is Krishna University. One can have endless knowledge here because the university believes in giving rather than taking. The course fees of all the courses of the university are minimal as one can complete their PG from here at fees of just 15 to 60k a year. The university engage students in a lot of activities as on every environment day, the university plants trees at their campus, Swachh Bharat Campaign and other taboo models are been discussed here and more importantly students here are welcomed with open arms.
Krishna University courses are such that no entrance is required for admissions apart from KRUCET for their MBA and engineering courses. The courses offered by university are PG Diploma in Kuchipudi Dance, and then a certification course for the same which is a one-year course while PG is a two-year course. The university also offers a diploma in same domain and that too with a fee of just 12,000. The other courses offered by the university are M.A, M. Com, MCA, MBA and M.Sc.
The university also offers PhD programs and the only two bachelor courses offered by the university are B. Pharmacy and B. Tech. If all the specializations of various courses are included, it offers around 70 specializations. Krishna University admissions are allotted only after the students are eligible for that particular course. Krishna University application form is available on their website or one can have their form at various banks and other places in the city as it’s a state-owned university and they have made forms available at almost all districts of the state.
There are various kinds of scholarships that are being provided in Krishna University. It regularly provides scholarships to meritorious students and the one who tops the class. The university has tie-up with banks and apart from scholarships education loan too is provided to the students with very easy terms. The university has set up a student bank through which they educate the students who are suffering financially. Students coming through sports or army quota do get some scholarships.
The university fees is anyways so less that students don’t have to worry much and still for those who can’t afford the little fees that the university charge, they can contact the specific department of the university that looks after the scholarships. The department may ask for some documents like the education mark sheets, photograph, leaving certificate, to name a few.

The T&P cell of the university is their integral part and is fully committed in providing assistance to all the students who graduate from here. Unlike many universities where training and placement cell remains active for just few months of the year, at KrU, it remains active all around the year. The university has tie-up or MoUs with many top organizations of the state. Companies like Sudarshan Biotech Ltd, Onan Biotech Pvt Ltd. The pharmacy college of the university, i.e., KrU College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research has placed many of its students in these companies and many other diagnostic centres and hospitals of the state.
KrU College of Engineering and Technology has successfully placed its students at top IT firms like Cognizant, Happiest Minds, TCS, and others. The average salary offered to Pharmacy graduates is around 4 lakhs and the engineering college students on and average receives a pay cheque of 5 lakhs and above. So, the placements of the university are in line with any top universities of the state and not just on-campus but students receive aid and support for off-campus placements too.
Krishna University Campus is spread in over 100 acres and has one of the most amazing infrastructures. The front gate of the university gives you a feeling of what is from inside. The new dawn of Dr. YSR Administrative Building which is the latest built administration block of the university looks as good as any parliamentary building. The academic block of the campus is millennial and is named after none other than Dr. B.R Ambedkar. PG Centre Building is the oldest building of the block as rest all buildings have been redeveloped but that is yet to go under redevelopment as the university wants to preserve that old heritage. The infrastructure includes some of the rare facilities like:
Dance Hall – Since Kuchipudi is the flagship course of the university an academy like dance building has been instilled at the campus. The dance hall is fully air-conditioned and it has a stage and a theatre that is good enough to accommodate over 500 people at a go.
Irrigational Land – Just beyond the buildings there are open plots and irrigation is done there as college has built facilities to store the rain water in the campus.
Sports Ground – Andhra Pradesh has produced some of the best Olympians in P.V. Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Gagan Narang and others. A sports block with many indoor and outdoor sporting activities has been built at the campus and students can play any of their desired sports during the college hours.
Above all it’s the vegetation part of the campus because the entire campus is covered with a sheet of green as there are around a 1000 trees and grass banks all over the campus.
