Thiagarajar College was established in the year 1949 by Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar. The college is affiliated with the Madurai Kamaraj University. Kalaithanthai Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar Memorial Trust is the one managing the college. As education is very important in every scenario the college is providing an affordable and quality education as it is a charitable non-profitable institution. The college is assigned an ‘A’ grade institution by National Assessment and Accreditation Council also known as NAAC.

This institute offers Ph.D., and undergraduate courses such as BBA, BCA, BSC, BCOM, and BA, which can be completed in 3 years in 6 semesters i.e. 2 semesters per year. Postgraduate courses such as M.Sc, M.Com, and MA, can be completed in 2-year duration of 4 semesters i.e. 2 semesters per year. Courses in Masters of Philosophy can be completed in 1-year duration of 2 semesters. Ph.D. courses are also available in part-time and full-time courses.

Thiagarajar College takes admission of students on a past qualification basis. Applicants can straightly apply through Thiagarajar College’s website (tcarts.in) after the class 12th result from the Tamil board. Then they can fill all the required details and submit the form after making the payment for the application. If students want, they can also visit the campus for satisfaction. Then they can fill out the application form and can deposit the application money with the help of guidance from the staff there. After the successful submission of the form, the selected students will be getting an offer letter from the college. Then they have to submit the semester fee for their respective courses.

Qualification Criteria for the following courses:

For undergraduate programs such as BBA, BCA, B.Sc, B.Com, and BA: Applicants must have completed their class XII with 50% marks in the respective subjects. The marks sheet should be duly signed by their class 12 passing school, Transfer Certificate, and Caste Certificate (if any).

For postgraduate programs such as M.Sc, M.Com, and MA: The applying candidates must have their undergraduate degrees in I, II, and III years.

For Ph.D. and M.Phil programs, applicants should have mark sheets from their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years of undergraduate programs.

Thiagarajar College provides all central and state government scholarships. Scholarships are available for all eligible students such as the National Scholarship Scheme and State Government Scheme, NCC scholarship scheme, and backward classes scholarship scheme are also available. Tamil Nadu scholarship scheme, Indira Gandhi single girl child scholarship scheme, etc have also helped students.

Special Quota seats are reserved for the following:

1. 3 percent of seats in undergraduate programs. 2 percent of seats in postgraduate programs are reserved for excellent sportsmanship.
2. Some seats are reserved for the NCC Cadets of ‘A’ certificate holders in undergraduate streams. Postgraduate programs have scholarships for ‘C’ certificate holders.
3. Some seats are reserved for the ex-army retired officers and in postgraduate courses. Some seats are for the Tamil medium student of Andaman and Nicobar.

Some seats are assigned for the backward classes and out of which 31 percent are reserved for OC. 50 percent for BC and MBC/DNC. 19 percent for SC/ST. 5 out of 100 seats are reserved for physically challenged persons.
