Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College (formerly known as Sikkim Government College) [NBBGC], Gangtok was established in the year 1977 as a Private Educational Institution. NBBGC Gangtok is accredited by NAAC-B++, and is affiliated with SU, Gangtok. Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College (NBBGC) which was formerly known as Sikkim Government College was established as a higher premier educational institution in 1977. The college is accredited by NAAC with “B++” grade. The college is affiliated to Sikkim University and is also approved by UGC.

To take admission into the UG program, a candidate must have a valid entrance score in the examination conducted by the college.

The campus has a Career Guidance and Placement Cell which is helpful in facilitating various job opportunities for the students. Workshops and seminars are organised by the cell and the students can develop their skills through these activities. It allows students to work towards developing their personality and grab better job opportunities. The cell is committed to facilitate sufficient job opportunities to the students.
The campus of the college is located in an area of approximately 22 acres in Tadong which is 5 kms away from Gangtok and is easily accessible. The campus has a large and spacious playground which allows students to play many sports. Also, there are volleyball and badminton courts on the campus.
