NIT Sikkim Fees Structure & Courses 2025

I'm a Computer Science student, so talking about academics I can say that those who're very good at Coding and Logic Building will not face any kind of problems here. I faced many problems in academics at first due to lack of interest in the starting but now, I'm enjoying the topics which are taught.

Overall teachers are very supportive and teach well in class. All the branches are good except the Civil Branch and CSE have lack of teachers. Mechanical Branch teachers are very good and cover all topics well. It is quite hard to score above 9 CGPA here, but not impossible. The teachers will not only support you but also guide you with internships and placement. If you are a Bengali then plus point for you as 90 percent teachers are Bengali.

I have completed my B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering at NIT Sikkim. You can choose this department if you love Physics. Eligibility criteria to get admission into the institute are qualifying the JEE Main examination with good percentile and class 12th with minimum of 75% marks. After this, you have to appear for the JOSAA counseling, where you will be allotted a seat at the institute. The institute has semester system with 1 end semester exam of 50 marks & 2 mid semester exams of 15 marks each and rest 20 marks are in the hand of the respective faculty i.e. internal marking.

Tuition fee is about Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 75,000 per semester. There is discount in the fee based on the family income of the student. For example, students with family income of less than 1 LPA, whole tuition fee is waived off. Students with family income between 1 to5 LPA, two third tuition fee is waived off. At NIT Sikkim, the hostel fee is about Rs. 8,500 per semester and mess fee is almost Rs. 24,000 per semester. You will be entitled to get so many scholarships from different ministry of Government of India and in some case from Government of Sikkim for local students.Read Full Review
