SNDT Women's University (also known as Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University) [SNDTWU], Pune established in 1916 is a State University. SNDTWU Pune is approved by AICTE and UGC, and is accredited by NAAC-A. Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University Pune is the first women’s university in India. It was founded in 1916 as “Mahila College” by Hindu Widows Home Association. At present, the university is operating through its four campuses at: Churchgate, Pune, Juhu, and Shrivardhan. S.N.D.T Women's University- Pune is working as a State University with the approval of UGC and AICTE. It is re-accredited by NAAC with “A” grade.
Vision: The University was set-up with a vision to advance knowledge to cope up with the changing world by creating a comprehensive society that supports and protects equality, social justice, and human rights of the society with special emphasis on women empowerment.

The Training and Placement Cell in the university is dedicated towards providing its services to shape students’ career. The Cell conducts various activities throughout the year such as webinars, seminars, workshops, group discussions, training, internships in leading companies, and many activities to instill necessary skills and knowledge among its students to make them competent leaders globally.
The continuous effort of the Cell has increased the number of recruiting companies visiting the university. Some of the prominent recruiters that came to the Pune campus for placement include names like Adani, Accenture, Myntra, Tata Chemicals, L&T Construction, Yes Bank, Essar Group, Airtel, DBS Bank, Purplle, HDFC Bank, Aditya Birla Group, etc.
S.N.D.T Women's University Pune campus is sprawling on 24 acres of land and has state of the art infrastructure facilities for its students. The School building of the campus is known as Kanyashala. In the PGSR building there are 8 PG departments, all equipped with advanced academic facilities. Adequate musical instruments and LCD projector is available in the PG Music departmental laboratory. More facilities available in the university Pune campus are discussed briefly in the following points:
Library: The Library in the Pune campus is equipped with the latest and varied collection of study material in education, home science, geography, and Marathi. There is an audio library consisting of over 100 LP records and listening sessions are conducted frequently.
Hostel: Two hostels are constructed in the Pune campus with the capacity to accommodate 400 students. Students are provided Wi-Fi facility so that they are never far from learning. Administration of both the hostels are looked after by a Hostel Superintendent who is assisted by the Hostel Warden.
Sports: Students can play various indoor and outdoor games in the huge playground in the Pune campus. They are also encouraged to participate in the sports activities. Inter collegiate and Inter University Sports competitions are organised by the university.
Cafeteria: Food, beverages and snacks are provided to university students through the cafeteria. The management makes sure to check the quality of food in the cafeteria frequently.
Medical Facility: Medical assistance is provided to students and staff under the supervision of a medical officer.
Other Facilities: Guest House, Tarapore Hall, Banking facilities, Computer Labs, Seminar Halls etc.
