NIT Silchar B.Tech Fees Structure 2025 & Admission Process

I got Civil Engineering branch in my counseling rounds. I wanted to have other branch than this but got this. The eligibility criteria for enrollment in NITs is through clearance of JEE Main examination. Based on your rank, you will be allotted your institute and branch by JoSAA and CSAB counseling. After getting NIT Silchar, we have to give almost 10 to 12 documents for our registration process with all fee receipt. This semester is of 5 months. Our mid semester examinations are starting after 2 months, and then we have our class tests, then minor exams and then end semester examinations. They all happen in gap of 4 to 5 weeks. The curriculum can be improved though.

Our academic fee depends on our cast and family income. If family income is less than 1 LPA, then we don't have to pay our tuition fee. If it is between 1 to 5 LPA then we have to pay our tuition fee. I paid Rs. 67,000 for one year (Rs. 33,500 per semester) including all the charges. Admission fee is Rs. 1,000, Library fee is Rs. 500, IT system fee is Rs. 1100, Transport fee is Rs. 500, Medical facility fee is Rs. 300, examination fee is Rs. 1,200, and Gymkhana & sports fee is Rs. 1,500. Furthermore, Hostel fee is Rs. 1,500, Light & water charges fee is Rs. 1,000, Cable TV fee is Rs. 130, and Mess fee is Rs. 1500. I have 2 scholarships. First, is NSP and second is FFE. Firstly I wanted to choose CSE but I was not getting that so I chose NIT Silchar ECE which turned out to be the right decision for me. The Institute takes admission through entrance examination known as JEE Main. The minimum marks to get into NIT Silchar is 140 marks. The students should pass class 12 exam with more than 75%marks. There are exams like mid sem, minor test, class test, and most importantly end semester examination. The minor test is for half an hour, mid sem is for 1 hour, and most important end semester is for 2 hours. The paper difficulty is medium. If a student will study thoroughly then he/she can get good marks.

I am paying Rs. 22,000 for the tuition fees as I am an OBC student with family income below 1 lakh. I am paying Rs. 45k for the mess fees. My course is electronics and communication engineering. It has many opportunities in future with the growing semiconductor industry in India. To get admission into NIT Silchar, one has to clear JEE main with a good percentile. Through JOSSA counseling and CSAB counseling, students can get admission in NIT Silchar. There are mid semester exam and end semester exams in every 3 months of academic semester. Additionally there are lab exams and minor and class tests too. We have a really hectic schedule in 1st year and lots of pressure and stress which makes us more mature and hard working and prepares us for challenges in life.

Semester wise the fees is Rs. 96,000. Admission fee is zero. Library fee is Rs. 500. IT system fee is Rs. 1,100. T&P charges are Rs. 500. Transportation facility is Rs. 500. Medical facility fee is Rs. 300. Examination fee Rs. 1,200. Sports fee Rs. 1,500. Mediclaim insurance is Rs. 270. Hostel seat rent is Rs. 1,500. Light and water charges are Rs. 1,000. Cable TV is Rs.130. Mess establishment is Rs.1,500. Tuition fees for SC, ST, PWD category is 0. If candidate’s family income is below 1 lakh then the tuition fee is Rs. 0. For family income between 1 to 5 lakh, tuition fees are Rs. 20,833. For candidates whose family income is about 5 lakh, then the tuition fees is Rs. 62,500.
