Prabhu Jagatbandhu College, Howrah was established in the year 1964 as a Public Educational Institution. Prabhu Jagatbandhu College Howrah is approved by UGC Section 2(f) & 12(B), accredited by NAAC-B+, and is affiliated with University of Calcutta, Kolkata. Prabhu Jagatbandhu College offers admission in the field of Humanities, Science and Commerce at UG/ PG level with scholarship benefits to deserving students. Dr. Subrata Kumar Ray is the Principal.
Prabhu Jagatbandhu College or popularly known as Andul College, was established on the eve of Independence Day i.e. 15th August in the year 1964. The College provides its courses under the jurisdiction of the University of Calcutta. It has been accredited by NAAC.
Vision: The College was set-up with a vision to produce human professionals who shall lead the country in the right direction to achieve harmony for the future.
Mission: The College is committed to achieve its mission of providing a rich academic and learning environment for its students to have a meaningful life, become socially responsible and to contribute to the society at large.
Currently, the college provides degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate level in different disciplines through 20 departments. BA, B.Com (Hons), B.Sc, MA, and M.Sc degrees are provided by the college in different specialisation.
Admissions in the college are based on the norms of the University of Calcutta. Interested students can apply for the program by filling the application form and submitting the required documents. Students who have cleared 12th class from All India Boards or Councils are not bound to submit a Migration Certificate to register themselves on the official website of the affiliating university.

The College supports poor students so that they can continue their educational journey by providing Scholarships like, Swami Vivekananda merit cum means Scholarship, Kanyashree for girl students, Minority Scholarship like Post Matric Scholarship from West Bengal Minority Development Finance Corporation, Post Matric Talent Support Scheme, Post Matric Stipend, etc to the meritorious and poor students. Besides scholarships, talented students are honored with various awards, prizes, and full-free studentship. Candidates other than SC and ST categories can also apply for financial support in the college.

The college campus is situated on the bank of river Saraswati. The land to construct the campus was gifted by a devotee of Sri Prabhu Jagatbandhu, a saint on whose name the college has been named. The campus has four buildings (A, B, C, and D blocks) forming an almost rectangular structural pattern. A new G+3 building namely Subarna Jayanti Bhavan was recently constructed with 20 rooms of which 13 classrooms have digital projectors. There are 56 classrooms, separate common rooms for boys and girls, restrooms, a seminar hall with smart board, ICT, and Wi-Fi facilities, etc facilities in the campus to support teaching and learning activities.
