Oriental Theological Seminary

Oriental Theological Seminary is a graduate institution devoted to the lordship of Jesus Christ. Established in 1991 by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council, the institute offers programs in divinity, theology, and ministry. The institute provides a master’s in clinical counselling.

Vision: The vision of the seminary is to foster Christian leaders who have knowledge of postmodernism and modernism with intellectual understanding, theological soundness, spiritual maturity, and practical capability.

Students from any Christian denomination can seek admission to OTS. The key parameters on which students are evaluated for admission to the seminary include Christian character, commitment to the ministry, academic preparedness, and interview. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

Admission Process

Students seeking admission to OTS are encouraged to visit the campus before applying and interact with the Academic Dean in an informal interview. Interested candidates get the opportunity to attend classes, talk with the students and faculty, and participate in school life for one day. Applicants can download the application form online from the college website or request one from the seminary. An application processing fee must be paid for processing, registration, and interview process. Final selection will be based on a formal interview and written exam.

Documents Required

The application package should include the following documents:

• Completed application form
• Transcripts from all college/university attended
• 1-2 page statement of past Christian experience with reason for interest in the Christian ministry
• Two letters of recommendation - one from the applicant’s pastor and another from a professor from the previous institution
• D.Min candidates will be required to submit two essays - one describing their faith journey and another stating the applicant’s motivation and at least 2 possible areas for dissertation

OTS Dimapur provides financial aid to students in the form of scholarships that may be need or merit based. These include:

• Charis Scholarship: Awarded to one student in the final year of the M.Div program demonstrating financial need. The sum received covers entire tuition fees for the recipient.
• Donor Scholarship: This scholarship is available for students from Bade Village who is well-known in the community and also an active participant of the Bade Baptist Church.
• Family Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to a student who is related to an employee at OTS and shows active participation in the seminary.
• Need-based Scholarship: The general need-based scholarship is for students who fulfill the criteria.
• Merit-based Scholarship: This category of scholarship is awarded only on the basis of merit and can be applied towards the tuition fees.
• VVV Scholarship: Only open to students who come from outside Nagaland and fulfill the criteria for need-based award. The amount can be applied to tuition fees, mess fees, or personal expenses depending on the availability of funds.
• Wati Aier Postgraduate Scholarship: Awarded to students pursuing Master of Theology and demonstrating financial need. The scholarship covers full tuition fee for one recipient or may be split between two.
• Alumni Scholarship: Offered to previous graduates who are applying for a second degree at OTS. Covers a quarter of the total fees.
