MBBS
The Undergraduate course that the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences offers is MBBS. The course has been divided into three phases for the students. According to the Guidelines of the Rajiv Gandhi University, the duration of the course is four and a half years, bifurcated into 9 semesters each of 6 months followed by one year of internship.
The Undergraduate MBBS course acquaints the students with basic information about medical science and human anatomy. After completing their undergraduate courses, they can choose their MD in different areas of specialization accordingly.
Eligibility Criteria
For students to be eligible for the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences MBBS course, there is a certain criteria that needs to be fulfilled. The students should have passed two-year P.U.C examination conducted by the PU education Board or other equivalent examination according to the prescriptions of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Sciences. The students are also admitted if they have obtained a B.Sc degree in any three or more subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. The candidates should have scored 50% marks in Science subjects taken altogether in the CET\COMED - K examinations. The students under OBC and SC\ST category have to secure 40% marks in total. The candidate should have reached 17 years of age on the 31st December of the year of admission.
Post Graduate Courses
The Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences offers a Full-Time Post Graduation course of 3 years and also a diploma course of 2 years. These are recognized by Indian government and also the Medical Council. You can do an MD in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, Medicine, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Radio Diagnosis, Anesthesiology and Psychiatry, You can do MS in General Surgery, O.B.G, Ophthalmology, E.N.T and Orthopedics. You can do diploma courses in DA (Anesthesiology), DCP (Pathology), DCH (Pediatrics), DGO (O.B.G), DOMS (Ophthalmology), D. Ortho. (Orthopedics), D.L.O (E.N.T) and DMRD (Radio Diagnosis).
Eligibility criteria
In order to seek admission to a post graduation course, a student is required to have passed an MBBS course recognized by the MCI. They must have also completed one year training / internship in any institution recognized by the MCI. After completing their MBBS course, the students should also have successfully registered their MBBS degree with their state council. It is also required for the students to successfully give PGET, an entrance test, which is conducted by the Rajiv Gandhi University or the COMED – K. Their position as a student in the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences will be secured based on their rankings in this examination.
