Dimapur Government College, Dimapur was established in the year 1966 as a Public Educational Institution. Dimapur Government College was founded in 1966. It was earlier known as Dimapur College. In 1989, the college was taken over by the Government of Nagaland and was renamed as Dimapur Government College. It emphasises towards holistic education by imparting skills and knowledge amongst students. DGC is working under the jurisdiction of Nagaland University.

Students are provided placement opportunities through Career Counseling and Placement Cell of DGC.
