The faculty in DSE is one of the best parts. Imagine being taught by scholars who are there in the syllabus itself. You will meet all the big names you have read before. As mentioned earlier, the approach here is more towards ethnography; it looks into real life examples diving deep into the subjects. However, one cannot expect the same from all the faculty members. While some can make you feel worthy of being there, others can disappoint you in some aspects. There are six compulsory subjects in the first year and one optional subject. The compulsory subjects are divided into two parts and two individual professors will teach each part. DSE was flexible with lectures as attending the lectures at DSE is not essential. I always thought that I can study from my room and library and ace the exams. After the mid-term itself, I realized I was wrong. Midterm exams are held in September and the term starts in June. Thus, you hardly have any time to prepare for the terms. 40% weightage is carried by mid-term exams so don’t you dare missing or skipping them. 40% external marking and that is evaluated by the professors so always maintain good relation with them. Our faculty consisted of a lot of economists as most of the professors were gold medalists. As if the life was not tough already at D-School, the professors made it even tougher. The only place where we found faculty smiling and joking was JP’s tea stall. In classes they had a poker face and it was tough to read because every one or the other student used to get some serious scolding. I used to remember the time when my parents used to scold me and I used to give them back. There was nobody at D-School who could give it back to the professors.Read Full Review
