The curriculum of the MBBS program offered by Ramaiah Medical College incorporates all aspects of clinical, Para-clinical, and preclinical streams. Students attend theory classes and undergo clinical coaching (as per strictures laid down by MCI) for completing this undergraduate medical program. Lecturers and professors deliver classroom instructions, take tutorials, and guide the students in the laboratories.
The syllabus of MBBS lays emphasis on integrated and holistic learning so that learners have a good grasp of each and every medical discipline. The undergraduate course has an academic schedule lasting for 4.5 years along with 1 year of mandatory internship. The students imbibe theoretical and practical knowledge in human anatomy, general medicine, biochemistry, human physiology, orthopedics, radiotherapy, psychiatry, obstetrics, general surgery, general medicine, gynecology, and pediatrics etc.
Once students complete this program, they can apply for a position in a hospital, medical laboratory, clinic, nursing home, medical college, research institute, health center, and pharmaceutical or biomedical company. The basic qualifying criterion for this program is a pass in 10+2 with minimum 50% marks in biology, chemistry, and physics on an aggregated basis. The applicant also should have cleared English as a language subject.
Final selection will depend upon the rank attained by the applicant in the NEET exam conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education).
All MD/MS programs on offer are fulltime 3-year courses for which students receive theoretical instructions and hands-on training. A student applying for a MD program can opt to specialize in any one out of the 17 on offer. Some of these disciplines include anatomy, community medicine, forensic medicine, biochemistry, microbiology, psychiatry, pharmacology, emergency medicine, radiotherapy, and pathology.
On the other hand, a candidate sending his or her application for a MS course has to choose a specialization out of the 5 disciplines available. The MS specialization streams include ophthalmology, general surgery, otorhinolaryngology, orthopedics, and obstetrics & gynecology. These postgraduate medical programs enable students to gain expertise and specialize in a specific branch of medical sciences by attending theory classes and through conduction of meticulous research.
The students also undergo comprehensive clinical training for imbibing complete knowledge in their respective areas, thereby helping them to practice as effective medical professionals. The learners receive training, listen to case discussions, and attend conferences, seminars, and CMEs at the hospital and Advanced Learning Center. The applicant needs to have a MBBS degree of a medical college or institution approved by MCI.
The candidate also has to clear the NEET (PG) examination in order to be considered for final selection.
The RMC’s M.D. /M.Ch programs are fulltime courses with a 3-year study and training period. Students complete the programs via edification through research activities, clinical training, and academic classes. The learners pick up concepts on a range of medical disciplines through skills training, case study discussion, conferences, CMEs, seminars, journal clubs, and discourses organized in the hospital and Advanced Learning Center. Those applying for the MD course, have to choose a discipline from amongst the 6 offered for completing the program successfully.
And students that wish to apply for the college’s M. Ch program, have to opt for a specialty out of the 5 available. Minimum eligibility criterion for the programs includes a MD/DNB (general medicine/respiratory medicine/pediatrics/radiotherapy/general surgery) certification from a MCI-recognized institution. However, final selection depends upon the score/rank obtained in the NEET (SS) examination.
Apart from the above programs, Ramaiah Medical College offers theoretical and practical training for BPT, MPT, PhD, and PG Diploma programs.
