AMU was established as Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental (MAO) in the year 1877, but later in 1920, it was renamed Aligarh Muslim University. To empower the future of the students and to facilitate them with opportunities for placement, the university has established an active and professional Training and Placement Office (TPO). This office is headed by expert and experienced Placement Officers who help the students become employable and seek professional skills. This office works to provide a brighter future to the students to enhance their interactions with renowned companies by inviting them for workshops, seminars, webinars, industrial visits, job fairs, etc.
TPO maintains healthy relations with the major recruiting companies and sustains it for the long term to provide career opportunities to the students. The students of AMU get placed in various sectors like Media, Banking, Social Services, Manufacturing, Law, Finance, IT, etc. To help the students face the HR round, TPO organises pre-placement talk sessions and career development programs for the students in which they learn about resume writing, mock interviews, aptitude tests, and group discussions. This office provides a platform to the students where they can collaborate, interact, and built links with various renowned companies which will help the students in exploring the professional world. TPO helps and assists the students in developing professional skills and values, and provides a range of internship programs to them.
Located in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, the campus of the university is spread in an area of 467 hectares of land. The campus of the university is ragging free and do not discriminate between the students on the basis of gender, caste, or creed. AMU is located at 130 km from Southeast of Delhi and 2 km away from the Aligarh Railway Station. The university has also established multiple clubs that helps the students in staying active, socialising, and showcasing their talents.
