Sardar Patel University - SPU located in Vallabh Vidyanagar was founded in the year 1955. The University has its jurisdiction over the Anand district of Gujarat. Presently, 113 colleges are functioning under the university. The University is approved by AICTE and is accredited by NAAC with “A” grade.

Students who wish to get admission in SPU Vallabh Vidyanagar must have a Provisional Eligibility Certificate. Candidates seeking admission for Ph.D courses must have a PG degree in the relevant field with minimum 55% marks in total or its equal grade. 5% relaxation is allowed for reserved category candidates. Additionally, students having bachelor’s degree with minimum 75% marks in total or equal grade (5% relaxation for reserved categories) or M.Phil degree with minimum 55% in total or equal grade are eligible for pursuing Ph.D courses in the relevant field. Ph.D aspirant must qualify in the Entrance Test in the relevant discipline to get admission in the university.

There is a Placement Cell in most of the university colleges or institutes which works continuously to provide better job opportunities for their students. The Cell conducts several activities during the entire year, grooming its students for becoming ready for the corporate world. The cell has developed strong relations with various industries, corporate, agencies, institutions / universities, etc to facilitate job opportunities for its students.
Many of the university graduates have been placed in leading companies like IDBI Bank, Asian Paints, Bajaj Allianz, The Times of India, TCS, HDFC Bank, Big FM, Vodafone, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Wipro, HCL, and more.
The University’s main campus and 4 satellite campuses cover a total 86 acres of land. The main campus houses the administrative office and the other main offices in the university. The campus has a Computer Centre, M P Patel Auditorium, Museum, Guest houses, Guest hotels, and Health Centre. To accommodate university staff members, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Staff Quarters are located in the Satellite Campus-4. A multipurpose hall to hold meetings, workshops, seminars, conferences, etc is housed in a five-storied building known as Gyanoday Pariksha Bhavan.
