Guru Nanak Educational Trust laid the foundation of Guru Nanak Institute of Technology - GNIT Kolkata in 2003 under the umbrella of JIS Group Educational Initiatives. The UG and PG courses offered by the college are approved under the MAKAUT and NBA. The institute is recognised by NAAC and UGC as well as approved by AICTE.

The Cell works on increasing the knowledge of students about the recruitment process along with creating awareness among organisations about the placement opportunities at the college.
