Mahatma Gandhi University (also known as Mahatma Gandhi University Telangana) [MG University Nalgonda] established in 2007 is a State University. MG University Nalgonda is approved by UGC, and is accredited by NAAC-B+. Admission in MG University Nalgonda is offered in Engineering, Management and Humanities at UG/ PG/ Diploma/ Doctorate level with scholarship benefits to deserving students.
Mahatma Gandhi University - MGU Nalgonda which was previously known by the name Nalgonda University was established in 2007 by Andhra Pradesh Government as part of their vision to provide access, justice, and comprehensiveness in higher studies. It was approved by UGC with the State University status in March 2008 and is re-accredited by NAAC with “B+” grade.
Vision: The University was set with a vision to promote academic excellence so as to develop human resources capable of tuning in with the changing times and to reach out to the corporate world around its administration area.
Mission: The Mission of the educational hub is to disseminate knowledge via scientific methods with the use of modern technology and to train people for the betterment of the society at state and national level.
Students get degrees in various courses of different disciplines and at different levels at MGU Nalgonda. M.A, MBA, M.Com, M.Sc, B.Tech, MCA, etc are some of the courses run by the university in its following University Colleges:
Admission to the university in all the undergraduate courses are through Degree Online Services Telangana (DOST) while for admission to postgraduate courses is through the Common Post Graduate Entrance Test. A notification for the entrance exam and admission to PG courses are issued by the authorities. Students applying for postgraduate courses will be offered admission through a centralised counseling process which is generally held in the last week of June or in the first week of July every year. Admissions to Ph.D courses are subject to the academic credentials of the candidate, availability of seats with the Research Supervisors in the concerned department, performance in the Ph.D admission interview, and the Telangana State Government Reservation policy. Students interested in taking admission to doctorate level courses must obtain a Master’s degree with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. Relaxation of 5% is given to SC ST / differently abled candidates. In addition to the above criteria he/she must qualify in the NET / SET / SLET exam or have an M.Phil degree in regular mode.

There is a separate Scholarship Cell at the university which assists the eligible students in availing scholarships and the other related formalities. The Cell helps students in applying for Government and Non-government scholarships and at the same time maintains records of it till the student starts availing the benefit of the scheme. Scholarships at the university are provided by various government bodies, NGOs, philanthropists, industries, individuals, organisations, etc.

The Placement Cell at the university is committed towards driving its efforts towards placing their students in some of the renowned companies. It maintains a strong connection with the organisations and institutions to enable training and internship for its students. Along with it, the Cell provides infrastructure facilities to hold group talks, exams, and interviews. The announcement regarding the job offers, meetings and location of interviews, etc are also made available to the students by the Cell.
It works with a large number of industries which result in over 100 organisations visiting the university campus for interviews. Many of the university students are placed in the reputed companies like MSN Laboratories Private Limited, Bharath Biotech, Shantha Biotechnics, Hetero Drugs, Dell, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, Deloitte, HCL Tech, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Cognizant, and more.
Since the academic session 2010-2011, the permanent campus of the university is located on the state highway (Nalgonda-Narketpally) at Annerparthy which is 7 kms from Nalgonda town and 90 kms from Hyderabad.
