The Faculty of Law University of Calcutta, formerly known as the University College of Law, was established in 1909. The department has a total of 6 affiliated colleges including Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College and South Calcutta Law College. The department is affiliated with University of Calcutta, Kolkata and approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI), and University Grants Commission (UGC). The Faculty of Law University of Calcutta offers admission into the B.A.LL.B program at the UG level. Along with this, students can also pursue a PG program and a doctoral program namely LL.M and Ph.D.

*SC/ ST candidates seeking UG admission at the Faculty of Law University of Calcutta will be given a relaxation of 5% marks for the minimum eligibility requirements.
*Students who have already passed JRF/ NET are not required to appear for the entrance test for Ph.D admission.
Admission Process
The admission process of the Faculty of Law University of Calcutta is conducted through online mode. Please follow the steps given below to successfully register for the UG and PG programs:
After qualifying for the entrance test, students are required to appear for the e-counselling process. It is conducted in 3 rounds. On the basis of the merit list and preference given by the candidates while filling up the application form, counselling process will be done. After publication of each merit list, students have to check their allotment status and download the admission slip. To finalise the admission, they will have to report to the concerned colleges along with some documents and requisite fees.
