Symbiosis International University [SIU Pune Pune] established in 1971 is a Deemed University, currently having 52nd position in NIRF Ranking 2024 and 351-400 score out of 760 in QS Asia 2023. Symbiosis International University is one of the largest private universities in India. The university was incepted in 2002 and started its journey with few schools like Symbiosis Law School, SIBM, and Symbiosis Institute of Design among others at its heritage campus in SB Road. Over the course of the years, the university has expanded its branches and now the university has 350 acres of campus in Lavale which is at the outskirts of Pune. The University was established by Dr. S. B. Majumdar and the current director of the university is Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar. The university is a home to nearly 25,000 students including all its institutes. The university offers courses in various domains like Law, Management, Engineering, Mass Communication, and Health Care to name a few.
Symbiosis means living together in science and the institute that has been started with that thought in 1971 has ensured that all foreign students and a mix of Indian students live together under one roof like a family. All the issues that were faced by students back such as medical care, coaching, guidance, meals, and accommodation have been taken care of by the university ever since it started. Symbiosis brings a lot of value in the name itself as the university has some of the top B-Schools, Engineering School, Law School, and others that have nurtured students and have made them reach the highs that otherwise would have been difficult.
Symbiosis International University offers eight faculties and for all those eight faculties, entrance is mandatory. For Symbiosis International University admissions in UG courses SET scores are considered and for PG courses SNAP scores are considered. For UG courses 50% in 10+2 and plus the entrance scores are calculated before the final admissions are awarded. Some of the topics of the entrance are common while for separate faculty there are separate sections. Admissions are purely on merit as Symbiosis has been adamant that there would be no back door entries.
For the NRI students too there are some steep eligibility criteria and there are no free lunched offered in terms of placements at SIU. For all the Symbiosis International University Pune courses such as MBA or PGDM, SNAP scores over 90 percentiles are must to get in the lowest ranked college of the university. Symbiosis International University Scholarships program is no mug as there are over 100s of scholarships that are awarded every year. From merit-based PG scholarships to Jayatee Deshmukh Scholarship for Girls, a student can apply for various scholarship programs of university to choose from. The university’s top UG & PG scholarship is that the topper of each school of the university is awarded 50% scholarship for the next semester. However, he/she has to maintain a 7.5 GPA to be eligible for that particular scholarship. Also, if they are carrying backlog, they automatically disqualify even if they have topped in the respective semester. The best part though is that no income proof or anything is required for the merit-based scholarship as this scholarship of the university is entirely merit based. The university has a tie-breaker too and that is if two students top with the same scores, then their 10+2 and graduation scores are calculated and on the basis of that who wins, the one gets the scholarship.

Symbiosis International University placements have been impeccable as SIBM rules the cash party but the other institutes are also not far behind. If there’s one flagship college that the university has than it is SIBM. Out of 210 students that the college enrols, half of them had pre-placements that is placements happened just after they finished their internships. The students of all the 14 schools of the campus undergoes same training that SIBM or for that matter any other college of the university. With over 800 recruiters that came for placements in 2021-22 batch, an overall percentage of 90% was recorded including all the colleges of Lavale campus. Highest placement offered during the same period was 42 lakhs. This isn’t a record though as the highest package the student of SIBM has ever recorded is of 45.5 LPA. Some of the top recruiters of SIU are Asian Paints, VI, Marico, Godrej Loud, Airtel, Flipkart, Titan, Tata Steel, ITC, Aditya Birla Capital, P&G, Phone Pe and many more. In terms of placements SIU has set the benchmark that are best to second because no other private university in India has a placement median that SIU colleges have.
Symbiosis International University is located in lush hills of Laval which is 25 kms from the main city of Pune. The entire university is powered through solar panels as the whole electricity that is consumed at the university is sourced directly at the campus. Thus, SIU campus is a prime example of an eco-friendly campus. Things doesn’t end here as the campus has incorporated a harvesting project to conserve rain water. The university harvest the rain water and then re-use it effectively for different purposes. Since, the university promotes a green environment, students are advised to walk through the campus or use electric vehicles or the bicycles which are provided at free of cost at the university. Lavale is situated in Mulshi district and one can easily find buses from the Lavale bus stand to Pune’s areas like Baner and Pashan. The university has arranged buses from the Lavale campus to the SB Road campus on daily basis and students who wish to travel can use those buses. There are three cafeterias at the campus and one of those is as big as capable of serving 1000 students at a time.

There’s a hospital inside the campus and over 10 libraries including a central library that is extended for all branches and one that can be accessed from hostel rooms as well. The university has common hostels which are shared between students of various hostels while some colleges like SIMC and others enjoy their own hostels. SIMC building is one of the best buildings of the campus as it has a studio and a radio station through which all the important circulars of the university are announced.
Symbiosis International (Deemed University) is a close-knit group of educational institutions that has been wholeheartedly delivering quality education for nearly five decades.
