In the year 2001, Shri Balaji Charitable and Educational Trust established Agni College of Technology, Chennai. It aims at providing education by encouraging an innovative and environmental atmosphere. The College is an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Institution, which is also accredited by NBA, affiliated with Anna University, and approved by AICTE.

Courses for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Ph.D. in various departments are taught by the College. The programs offered are:

• B.E. in Civil Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical & Automation Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

The institute offers a platform to students who are interested in start-ups, innovations, and R&D through numerous initiatives like National Innovation & Start-up Policy (NSIP), Agni Pride, 300 Start-ups at Agni, Agni CRD, MSME Incubation Centre, Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Cell, and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). Initiatives like National Service Scheme (NSS) and The Youth Red Cross (YRS) Programme have been taken to involve the students in youth and social awareness programs.

For getting admission to the institute, the application form has to be filled out. A student can receive the application form by any one of the following methods:

• Download the form available on the website and make a printout to fill it up.
• Visit the campus, and collect the form in hard copy format.
• If requested, the college sends the hard copy of the application form via post.

It does not matter through which mode has the student obtained the form, registration fees will only be submitted through Cash or Demand Draft. Students living outside the station can make the payment by sending a money order or post.

Eligibility Criteria:

• In the 10+2 examination, the candidate should have Science (PCM) as the mandatory subject and must score a minimum of 50% marks (for the general category), 45% marks (BC category), and 40% marks (for the MBC category).
• The candidates with a vocational or a diploma and willing to get a lateral entry, the total marks scored in Science (PCM) must be 50% for the general category, 45% for BC, and 40% for MBC.
• The minimum passing marks in the qualifying examination are required for the SC/ST Category candidates.

Important documents that are required to be attached to the application form are

• The original mark sheet of the previous qualifying exams.
• Community certificate in case of a candidate belonging to BC/ MBC/ SC/ ST category.
• A Conduct and Transfer Certificate from the institution last attended.
• Other documents as mentioned on the website.

*Note: The parents/guardian and the student have to submit a declaration for good behavior, study, and conduct at the time of admission. The format for the declaration will be provided by the college.

The institute offers “Agni’s Merit Scholarship”. The form for the same can be accessed through the following steps:

• Go to the website of the institute,
• Click on the “Admissions” tab on the main page,
• Under the segment ‘online application’, click on “Merit Scholarship” to access the form.
• Fill in the details given below and submit.

The details are the Name of the Applicant, the Applicant's Father/Guardian's Name, the Applicant's Date of Birth, the Contact information of the candidate and the guardian, the Address for communication with the candidate, the last attended institute’s name and marks scored, Religion and Caste, and Parent’s Annual Income (for availing of the Government Scholarship).

*The candidate must inform about the submission of the First Graduate Certificate at the time of the joining (for availing of the Government Scholarship).
