The JD Institute of Fashion Technology is one of the leading academic institutions in the country, imparting education in fashion and interior design. JDIFT (JD Institute of Fashion Technology) was established in 1988 on 12th October, under the aegis of JD Educational Trust. The flagship campus and corporate office of the JD Institute of Fashion Technology are situated in Mumbai opposite Vile Parle Railway Station (W).
The fashion technology institute has franchise centers in suburban areas of Mumbai, including Bhandup, Kharghar, Vashi, and Ghatkopar. Apart from the franchise centers, JDIFT has a total of twenty learning centers situated throughout the length and breadth of the country. These learning centers operate as distance-learning hubs, giving students access to digital/electronic academic resources like textbooks, journals, and magazines related to fashion literature.
The institute enjoys the affiliation of Kuvempu University, Shimoga (Karnataka). JDIFT enrolls students for a string of courses about fashion technology including diplomas in fashion design, interior design, event management, visual merchandising, fashion photography, and jewelry design. JDIFT is an associate member of various trade bodies and associations such as the Indo French Chamber of Commerce and Indo Italian Chamber of Commerce.
The institute is dedicated to promoting the fashion industry in India and regularly participates in fashion shows and trade exhibitions. JDIFT offers a global program in fashion design in association with London College of Fashion, University of Arts London. The college is also an institutional partner of the India Fashion Week, London where students demonstrate their creations.
JDIFT students have exhibited their collections at global film festivals, including the Vietnam Film Festival and Moscow International Film Festival. The institute was adjudged the ‘Best Institute in Vocational Education’ at the Indian Education Awards ceremony in 2017. The institution was also felicitated at the UK Asian Business Awards function in 2018 held at Congress Hall, London.
