Jadavpur University Hostel Fees: Rooms, Food & Rules, Kolkata

Jadavpur University offers accommodation separately to boys and girls students. To ensure that students find a home while they are away from home, the University provides all sorts of amenities required for their comfortable stay. The main hostel complex is located outside the campus.

The Jadavpur University has multiple hostels to accommodate a large number of students. In the Jadavpur University hostels, rooms are equipped with all the basic facilities and are available in single and double occupancies.

The Jadavpur University Hostel fees structure includes the seat rent & electrical charges, mess advance, and hostel admission charges.

At the time of admission, students who want to avail accommodation facilities need to pay a fee of Rs. 3,000/- including the mess amount. Moreover, electricity and seat rent needs to be paid separately.

Jadavpur University has laid some rules & regulations for the hostellers to maintain a safe and a healthy living at the hostels; the rules are as follows:

• Hostel residents are not permitted to use any electrical appliances like radios, heaters, iron, etc.
• In case of any damage of furniture or any other property of the hostel, hostellers will be held accountable and they will be fined.
• Staying at the hostels during the vacations is not allowed unless there is an academic purpose. Even in such cases, students are allowed to stay only if they have the approval of the Dean.
• Students are not allowed to remain outside the hostels after 10 PM.
• If students use abusive language or misbehaves with their fellow mates, a strict disciplinary action will be taken against them; this might result in suspension or termination from the hostels.
• Students are allotted with hostel accommodation only once; the renewal is done based on their good conduct and clearance of all dues.
• If any student is found to have consumed drugs or alcohol, involved in anti-social activities, does not pay their mess dues for consecutive two months, or found to be absent in the hostel for 3 months, he / she will be terminated from the hostel within 7 days after the final examination.

The Jadavpur University Campus has hostels separately available for girls and boys. The Jadavpur University Hostel rooms are well-lit and comprise beds, tables, chairs, and storage spaces. Moreover, the tight security is maintained for students which helps maintain the safe living environment

In addition, each hostel unit has mess facilities managed by the Mess Committee. 2 major meals of the day i.e., lunch and dinner are served to the hostel residents in the dining hall. Moreover, there are nearly 3 canteens situated at the main hostel complex, PG hostels (boys) in the main campus, and the ladies' hostel. Students mostly have their breakfast, tiffin and refreshments at these canteens.
