Stella Maris College has a huge and well-stocked library which is housed in a three-storied building. It is filled to the brim with a wide collection of latest books, periodicals, and CDs, which are expanded and updated every year. The library functions are a systematic way with three servers and well over 60 PCs. Electronic resources such as NList, EBSCO host, and Questia are made available to all members of the library via the college intranet. The top floor of the building hosts the Postgraduate library equipped with research cubicles. There are also newly added books and research material which are updated every week.
Stella Maris College has an affiliation with NAAC (which accredited this institute with an A Grade) and UGC. Academia has been accorded with a status of five stars by NAAC in the year 2000. In October 2013, it accorded Star Department Status to the Department of Zoology, Botany, Physics, and Chemistry under the Star College Scheme of Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India for strengthening the biotechnology and basic sciences and training. In the year 2016, it has been accorded the status of the institute with Potential for excellence. Academia has been conferred the title The Pride of the Catholic Church 2016 by the esteemed Catholic Bishops Conference of India.
Admission to the undergraduate courses is based on the marks obtained by the student in the class XII examination. Admission is strictly merit-based. Except for the BA in English program, all other undergraduate programs select students according to the merit in the 10+2 examination. Students are required to attain minimum attendance of 85% in every course to appear in the end semester examination.
