I have chosen the flagship course of this college that is B.Com (Hons.). It is highly sought after course because of its blend of theoretical and practical learning in field of Accounting, Finance, and Business Management. This college is reputed because of its academic structure and placement opportunities. It follows the semester-wise exam pattern of DU, where the biannual semester system is followed. It also conducts mid- semester exams to account for the internal assessment. The internal assessments encompass class presentations, written assignments, class tests that are conducted by the professors throughout the term to encourage consistent study habits. The core subjects of B.Com (Hons.) like Financial Accounting, Corporate and Business Law, Taxation, and Business Communication equip students with technical knowledge that forms the foundation of Commerce practices. Various societies of the college also conduct seminars and workshops on topics like financial planning, entrepreneurship, etc. to add practical value. This makes students well prepared to face challenges in corporate world while gaining a lifelong learning mindset. Its admission process is centralized at DU by CSAS (Common Seat Allocation System) which is preceded by CUET UG (Common University Entrance Test). Prospective students will have to attempt the following papers to gain admission in the college: English plus Accountancy or Mathematics plus any 2-domain subjects. The ideal combination for a Commerce student is English plus Accountancy plus Economics plus Business Studies. After attempting this entrance exam, you have to fill in the preferences at ‘common seat allocation system portal’ where, if you meet the cutoff, you will gain admission into the college. Some other undergraduate courses offered by the college are BA (Hons.) in Economics, B.Sc (Hons.) in Computer Science, Bachelor of Management Studies, Bachelor of Business Economics, and B.Com. We use a specified app to view our class’ schedule and attendance in real time. It also updates our assignment marks as soon as our professors mark them. This modernization makes the whole process of tracking subject-wise attendance and viewing assignment grades very smooth. We also have the notice board and faculty connect feature on that app.

The fee of Sri Guru Gobind Singh is quite low compared to private institutions, reflecting its status as a Central University. The fee for B.Com (Hons.) is Rs. 35,000 per year and the fees for Bachelors in Management Studies is almost Rs. 50,000 per year. The college being a Sikh minority institution, offers various fee concessions for students from marginalized backgrounds and Sikh minority. My course is B.Com hons. and to get into this course of our college, candidates have to appear for CUET UG exam. Only commerce or non med stream students can come into this course. My main motive behind choosing this course was because this course is the flagship course of our college. The highest cut-offs are seen in this course and best placements too.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce has also set high academic expectations, which involve establishing high cut-off marks for admission. This allows the college to receive goal-oriented and academic driven students. The eligibility criteria include passing the 12th standard in any board with more than 75% and also clearing the respective cutoff in the CUET examination. The admission process includes e-filling of the form, and there tends to be one end semester exam with class tests or internal tests in between the semesters. The academics include subjects that give you the taste of real life and expose to various knowledgeable subjects.

The fee of my chosen course revolves around Rs. 33,000 per year. This fee includes all sorts of charges except the examination fees that we need to pay while filling out the exam forms at the Delhi University student portal.Read Full Review
