Bangalore University (BU) was initially a branch of the University of Mysore and came into existence in the year 1964 and eventually became a separate university. Currently four university colleges and over 650 colleges are operating under its preview. BU is providing top notch education in the field of Commerce, Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Science and Technology. It is approved by UGC with the State University status and is accredited by NAAC with “A++” grade.

Mission: Its mission is to disburse quality education which is capable of meeting the global challenges by providing access to higher education to all the sections of the society. Bangalore University is providing degrees to various courses ranging from diploma to doctorate level through different colleges and universities operating and affiliated with it. Currently the university is offering 50 postgraduate courses and various Diploma, certificate, and UG courses. These courses are offered under the six faculties: Engineering, Law, Commerce and Management, Arts, Science, and Education.
Students who want admission to any of the institute or university affiliated with the Bangalore University must fill an application form online with all the asked documents duly attested, with it. The authorities then scrutinise the application form and verify the uploaded documents. Finally after counseling a final decision to admit the students will be made. Students can also apply for admission under various quotas like Sports quota, Defense quota, Kashmiri Migrant quota, NCC quota, NSS quota, and more. Government of India Post-Metric Scholarships has been provided to university’s SC / ST students whose annual family income is less than Rs. 2,50,000. Students can only avail one scholarship at a time. Those availing free hostel facilities in the university are not allowed to take any of the free-ship or scholarships from the university. Candidates belonging to OBC category whose parental income is 1,00,000 annually can also claim tuition fee, lab, examination, sports and library fee under Vidhya Shri Plan Scheme. The other scholarships that can be availed by the university’s students include Indira Gandhi Scholarship scheme for Single Girl Child, PG Scholarship for University Rank Holders, Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child Scholarship for Research in Social Sciences, and more.

The University was moved to a new campus in the year 1973 named “Jnana Bharathi” campus spread over an area of 1100 acres with many advanced academic facilities. Bangalore University is present in the beautiful Garden City of India, Bangalore, which is also the I.T. Capital of India. It was established in July 1964 to include a higher learning institute located in Bangalore and its districts. Initially, it was an offshoot of the University of Mysore but eventually made a separate University. At first, the two prestigious institutes of the city, the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering and the Central College, formed the base of Bangalore University.
The University has made a fruitful presence and is one of the largest universities in Asia. It was accredited by NAAC with five stars in 2002 and re-accredited in 2008 and 2016. It is recognized by UGC.
As per the Q.S. University BRICS 2016 Ranking, the international institute of Bangalore University, is ranked 151st among the BRICS nations. The Varsity has been structured into six different faculties namely Commerce and Management education and Arts, Engineering, Science, and Law. For admission in B.Arch and B.E, candidates need to pass 10+2 with a minimum of 45% marks in PCM. B.Tech admission is based on the Karnataka CET score. For M.Arch/M.Tech, candidates need to have valid marks in B.Arch/B.Tech Admission to MBA, M.Arch, MCA, and M.E is based on the Karnataka authority's PGCET examination. For ME admission, a GATE valid score is required. Admission in programs like M.Sc, MA, M.Ed, M.Lib, MSW is based on marks obtained at graduation level. Candidates need to clear 10+2 for admission in B.Sc, BA, BPA, BFA, and BSW. Admission in Ph.D is based on CSIR NET/UGC NET/GATE/SLET/JRF. M.Phil qualified students are exempted from the Ph.D entrance exam which the University conducts.
