Mar Baselios Dental College - MBDC Kothamangalam is Kerala’s first self-financing dental college. Established in 2002, the college is an institution for the minority and operates under the trust - Mar Baselios Medical Mission. Accredited by NAAC, Mar Baselios Dental College is affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences - KUHS located in Thrissur. Dental Council of India (DCI) New Delhi, recognises the courses available in this college. Students can also do PhD under the Department of Oral Pathology. This department is recognised as a research centre by the Kerala University of Health Sciences.
Vision: The college aims to excel in providing good dental education, emphasise on research and dental care for instilling oral health in the society.
Mission: The college’s mission is to provide quality and updated education in the dental stream, implement experiential dental learning standards, and help become experts in preclinical and clinical knowledge. The college also aims to provide students with skills required in dental surgery, practical and skill-based practice to improve oral health and develop ethical values, maintain scientific and necessary patient-related care.
Mar Baselios Dental College provides BDS, MDS, and doctoral level courses (Ph.D). The Para-medical diploma courses available in the college are Diploma in Dental Hygienist (DHC), Diploma in Dental Operating Room Assistance (DORA), and Diploma in Dental Mechanics (DMC). Mar Baselios Dental College is spread across 7 acres of land. It is nestled in Thankalam, at a distance of 2 km from Kothamangalam town in Ernakulam, Kerala. The college location is good for those travelling from other states. For those travelling by train, Aluva is the closest railway station at 30 km distance from the premises. The campus is located 30Kms from Cochin International Airport. The campus is green with facilities like 6 main blocks - academic and clinical, rooftop open air theatre, smart classrooms, conference halls, cafeteria, canteen, free wi-fi, herbal garden, auditorium, waste management, solar panel, ATM and research facilities.
