DAV Degree College Lucknow was established in 1918, in the form of a middle school and then it was upgraded for higher education in 1948, with the establishment of various departments including science and arts. This college is affiliated with University of Lucknow, and it has been approved by UGC and Bar Council of India (BCI).

Vision: The College strives to provide better quality education in the field of Arts, Science, and Law, and it also puts efforts towards extracurricular activities, so that students acquire better knowledge and education, not only related to professionalism but also related to their personality development.

Mission: To promote development of society by providing equal education opportunities to underprivileged people as well as to the women, so that literacy rate can increase and issues of society can be resolved through the help of such educated and experienced people.

DAV Degree College Lucknow provides UG & PG courses related in the field of arts, which include BA, in the department of Economics, English, Political Science, Sociology, Geography, etc. and MA in ancient Indian history. It also provides UG courses in the field of science and law which include B.Sc and LL.B programs.

Admissions are provided on a first come first serve basis to the students who want to pursue BA, MA, or B.Sc degree from this college. However, admission into LL.B program is provided only on the basis of merit decided as per the applications received, and according to the rules of college and university. The candidates are required to fill an online registration form followed by an online application form. The students have to fill in all the details in the application form along with their choice of course and subjects, as per the list provided by the college. Only the eligible candidates can fill the application form, and eligibility requirement for all the courses, as per the rules of college are as follows:

Candidates can submit the application form after the payment of registration fees. After selection of the candidates for admission, they are required to register themselves to the University of Lucknow, and then only they can make the payment of their admission fees. Certain seats are reserved for candidates belonging from various categories, including, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD, ward of Ex-Servicemen and Freedom Fighters, etc. Candidates are required to submit necessary documents in order to claim seats based upon the prescribed reservation criteria.

DAV College Lucknow provides scholarship, as per the scholarship schemes prescribed by the state government of Uttar Pradesh, to the students who belong from General, OBC & Minority Category. Scholarship is provided to the students according to the rules and guidelines provided by the state government. To avail the benefit of scholarship, students must have a domicile certificate of Uttar Pradesh, and annual income of their family should not exceed from Rs. 2 Lakh.
