Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University was established in 1946 and was formerly called College of Engineering. In the year 1972, the College of Engineering became a part of JNTU. In 2008, JNTU was divided into 3 universities which are JNTU Anantapur, JNTU Kakinada, and JNTU Hyderabad. JNTU Anantapur is a State University approved by UGC.

JNTU has established Industrial Relations and Placement cell to promote industrial relations and create a platform which provides recruitment opportunities to the students. It acts as a mediator between the companies and the University and provides internships, campus recruitments, and industrial training to the students. It also organises guest lectures and career fairs.
