Initiated in the year 1989, the Institute of Engineering and Management is an IT hub of knowledge and training in the state of West Bengal. This institute comes under the IEM Group which was set up to address the official and technical resources in the high-powered global changes. It is the first independent and self-financed college in the state of West Bengal that is recognised by UGC and approved by AICTE.

The college takes new admission based on WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations). 90% of the admissions take place here via the entrance test, in all categories and 10% of students qualify the admission after counseling and JEE Mains Exam. On the other hand, their PGDM course is approved by AICTE. The Institute also offers BCA and M.Sc. courses at their campus in Salt Lake.
