There are various B.Des courses available. You can choose as per your interest. After completion of any of the below courses, you will excel in different fields and will gain knowledge thoroughly. Some of the areas in which you can expect your career are design consultancy, retail design, Furniture design, Electronics companies, Transportation and Design studios, Accessory Design studios, Architectural Design, Brand managing agencies, etc.
Transportation and mobility Design
This is a four-year course, broken into 8 semesters. It aims to infuse students with modern trends in the transport industry
Industrial and Product Design
The four-year course with 8 semesters. It seeks to impart knowledge to the students so that they’re capable of developing tangible products as per the need.
Fashion Design
This is a four-year course with 30 seats. It aims to develop skills that are required in today's dynamic world.
Graphic Design
This four-year course has a total of 180 seats. It aims to inculcate visual creative ideas in students so that they can excel as trained Graphic Designers that one needs in a multi-faceted environ.
VFX & Animation
This four-year course is a unique blend of technical and creative storytelling through visuals. After completion, you’ll be able to produce narrative films.
Interaction Design
The four-year course aims to develop attitude and communication skills that you need for the latest industrial practice. It educates on visual design perception leading to effective digital designs.
Gaming
It is a four-year course that seeks to develop the skills that you need to create and design different games. It also gives access to hands-on practice for a better experience.
Interior and Retail Space Design
This four-year course is similar to Industrial and Product Design. It also helps students design a broad range of industrial design products
BFA is a four-year course having minimal seats (only 10). It focuses on critical thinking, project development, community engagement, and collaboration. You will learn to translate concepts into an individual expression with the use of various media and tools available.
There are two ways by which you get entry into any of the above courses, i.e., exam pathway, and non-exam pathway. Through the exam pathway a candidate of any stream with a minimum of 50% marks in 10th and 12th, along with UPES DAT entrance exam is eligible.
By Non-exam pathway Aspirants with valid JEE MAIN/UCEED scores have to obtain at least 50% marks in class 10th& 12th (Any Stream), or at least 65% marks in class 10th& 12th board. If the aspirant satisfies the above criteria, then gets into the interview round directly.
There are various M.Des courses available with limited 15-30 seats. You can choose where you best fit in. It is a two-year program divided into 4 semesters. After completing Masters, you’ll be able to differentiate yourself with others, due to the excellent knowledge in the field.
Transportation Design
This course intends to induce problem-solving and analytical skills in students. It has a broad scope to make a career in this aspect, such as Automotive OEMs, Automotive Design studios, Transportation Design Consultancy, and many others.
Industrial Design
It is a blend of art, technology, and business approach, which together aims at empowering students in making consumer-centric products. You can grow in several career paths with this program, such as Product Designer, Animation Artist, Design Consultant, etc.
Interaction Design
It aims to give insights into the UI/UX design by providing a 3D approach. The various career options are- User Interface Designer, Interaction Designer, Web-Based Products, Interface for control, etc.
Fashion Design
It aims to provide practical knowledge about the latest fashion technologies in the ever changing world.
In order to pursue the above M.Des courses, you need to score at least 50% marks in higher or 10+2 examinations, along with B.Tech /B.Arch/BFA/B.Des/Interior design/BVA/B.E (any relevant discipline), or 2 years M.Sc/M.Tech (computer science) /CSE/IT subjects/domains (only for interaction design). You may even get admitted after with a 3-year degree like B.Sc/BFA/BA/BVA / Design of any other discipline (50%marks is a must) + 1 year of related industry experience.
If you want to get through the exam pathway, apply for UPES DAT entrance exam, and after clearing, you will have your portfolio interview. Another way is the non-exam pathway, where CEED score counts, followed by a portfolio interview.
