Shia PG College Lucknow is a multidisciplinary college started in the year 1919 as a school. Later, in 1922 with the foundation of the college building, the college got the status of an Intermediate College. The College is an associated college of the University of Lucknow and is approved by UGC. It is accredited by NAAC.

The college has a Career Counseling and Job Placement Cell which primarily assist students to select appropriate career opportunities. The Cell guides and directs students which helps them to fulfill their career aspirations and interests.
The College has two teaching campuses: Sitapur Road Campus (main campus) and Tulsidas Marg (Victoria Street) Campus. The main campus is completely Wi-Fi enabled with 100 mbps speed on fiber optical leased line. CCTV cameras are set-up at different points in the campus for security concerns. There are smart classrooms and 1 ICT enabled classroom in every department. Laboratories equipped with modern equipment are set-up to perform experiments. A Computer Centre with computers with latest configuration is present in the college campus. Different programs and events are conducted at Khateebul Iman Hall and the Saeedul Millat Hall in the two campuses, respectively. There are five units of NSS and all three wings of NCC i.e. Army, Naval and Air wing are working in the college.
