Full Time Courses:
B.E. (Industrial Engineering and Management):
Total intake: 60
BMSCE provides with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM – 4 years), while also providing a Master’s Degree in Product Designing and Manufacturing (PDM – 3 years, part time).
Apart from regular studies, students are also encouraged to participate in different seminars, projects, industrial visits, lectures from visiting professors and other such activities to enrich themselves. The department of IEM has various labs which offer the student with a competitive edge. It also helps create a bridge between the management of any given organisation with the technical personnel, which further contributes to the growth and development of the organisation.
B.E. (Chemical Engineering):
· Total intake for undergraduate program: 60
· Total intake for post-graduate course: 24
Course Duration:
· For M.Tech Biochemical engineering: 2 years
· For B.E chemical engineering: 4 years
This department was inaugurated in 1995 by the late B S Narayan. The department currently provides an undergraduate program in Chemical Engineering while providing a post graduation degree in the Biochemical Engineering. In the year 2014, Chemical Engineering received an accreditation of 5 years from the NBA. Equipped with the best laboratory equipment for biochemical engineering and analytical techniques, this department also boasts of expert faculty members who are greatly qualified from some of the best institutions in the country.
It focuses on subject areas, such as Engineering Science, Basic Science, professional Electives, Professional Core, Project Work and Social Science.
(i) Basic Science includes subjects, such as Maths and Physics (Engineering), C-Programming, Engineering Chemistry, Electronics, and Basic Electrical. This helps in providing the fundamental knowledge relating to chemistry, physics and mathematics.
(ii) Engineering Science has courses which include the components of Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering Thermodynamics, Biochemical Engineering and many others which help in providing an in-depth knowledge of different materials and their properties.
(iii) Professional Core: The sub-division of the professional core has various subjects related to heat transfer, mechanical operation, chemical reaction engineering I and II, chemical equipment design, equipment drawing, etc.
B.E. (Electronics and Communication Engineering):
Total intake B.E.: 120
Total intake M.Tech: 24
With the inception of the department of Electronics and communication engineering in the year 1971, now BMS College of engineering has started three distinct postgraduate programmes in Digital Communication, Electronics, and VLSI Embedded Systems, the department is also acknowledged as a research centre by VTU.
The primary objective of this department is to contribute to the vision of the esteemed BMS College of Engineering to emerge as an academic excellence provider in the field of communication, electronics and other related areas through the acquisition of knowledge. The department uses the TLP (Teaching-Learning-Process), which automatically results in OBE (Outcome Based Education). This department was accredited for five years in Tier-I format by the NBA.
Eligibility:
To get admission in the B.E in electronics and instrumentation engineering a students must have passed 10+2 examination with not less than 50% marks and must have studied Mathematics and Physics as mandatory subjects. A student needs to give COMDEK UGET Test to get admission in this course.
B.E. (Information Science Engineering):
Total intake B.E.: 60
Total intake M.Tech: 18
Duration: 4 years for Undergraduate course and 2 years for post graduate courses

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science and Engineering (4 years) focuses on the practical and theoretical aspects of information science while the Master Degree in Computer Network and Engineering (2 years) focuses on the areas of communication and computer networking.

The department of Engineering and Instrumentation Engineering prepares the students to be at par with the ever growing needs of the present world. The course focuses on the effectiveness of the modern engineering and its application. Along with the syllabus, the course includes industrial visits too to enhance exposure. It is accredited by the NBA. Students also get to attend lectures by experts on the field of electronics and instrumentation engineering.

This department was established with one undergraduate program in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. The vision of the department is to make expert engineers who are capable to meet the ever changing demands of the Electrical Science. The focus of the course remains on developing models along with analyzing and assessing the working of different kinds of protection, transmission, and generation and distribution mechanism of the power system. There is also industry-based institution reaction, research activities and many various aspects that help in strengthening the knowledge of the students.
The objectives of the programme include the following:
(i) Help students get proper guidance to have a successful career in the field of Electrical Sciences and also have an in-depth knowledge in engineering principles along with deep understanding of Mathematics.
(ii) Proper utilisation of communicative, technical, managerial, and analytical knowledge and skills for the progress of the society and career.
