Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences

Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS), formerly known as Allahabad Agricultural Institute was established in the year 1910, for promoting development of rural life and agriculture. It has got the University status under U.P Act No. 35 of 2016 passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature, and is administered by the Sam Higginbottom Educational and Charitable Society. The University is approved by AICTE, recognised by NCTE, ICAR, PCI, AIU, UGC, and is accredited by NAAC with “A” grade.

Vision: The University operates with a vision of improvement of rural livelihood and rural people’s life. It was set up with a vision to disseminate technology that would ensure food security in India by catering to the needs of poor agricultural laborers and the students of agriculture.

Mission: SHUATS was set up with a mission to bridge the gap between the urban and rural masses by educating the village boys and introduce them to improved agricultural methods, and to do research in practical agricultural problems.

It strives to achieve responsible preservation of the environment and its resources, sustainable development, justice to the minorities, linking learning and research to the life of the people, unity, harmony, and international fellowship and cooperation in the educational and developmental ministry.

SHUATS has multiple institutes running under the following faculty heads:

• Faculty of Agriculture
• Faculty of Engineering and Technology
• Faculty of Theology
• Faculty of Health Sciences
• Faculty of Science
• Faculty of Management, Humanities and Social Sciences

It offers various UG, PG, and Diploma programs like Engineering, Food and Dairy Technology, Bio Technology, Agriculture Community Science and Forestry, Social Science and Education, Management, Science, Film and Mass Communication, Theology, Health Science, and Remote Sensing and GIS.

Students interested in getting admitted to any of the institutes working under the university shall obtain merit score from SHUATS Online Entrance Test and Merit Based Offline Counseling. For admission to all academic programs a common online application program is applicable.

The various scholarships schemes being offered by various agencies like All India Association for Christian Higher Education, Jindal Trust, Yeshu Darbar Scholarship, Junior Fellowship of I.C.A.R., Student's Book aid scholarship, Chaplain’s Scholarship, Earn while you learn programme, Rajya Krishi Utpadan Mandi Parishad, and various others providing monetary, and other benefits and services to the beneficiaries.
