It is a full-time-four-years program which consists of eight semesters. The course delivers in various streams of Information Science, Electrical and Electronics, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Telecommunication, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering.
To avail this course, a candidate should have passed the Karnataka 2nd PUC or 12th standard or an equivalent examination approved by AICTE & State Government. Physics & Mathematics are mandatory subjects whileComputer Science/ Chemistry/ Biology/ Electronics/ Biotechnology are optional subjects for getting admission to this course. English is compulsory.
The candidate must obtain at least 45% aggregate marks, which is 40% for SC or ST or OBC candidate. The student shuld have also secured minimum cut-off marks in any qualifying entrance examinations of CET or COMED-K or JEE or AIEEE.
The various postgraduate programs that are offered by the institute are Master of Computer Applications (MCA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Technology in various streams of Computer Science & Engineering, VLSI Design and Embedded Systems, Digital Communication & Engineering, Computer Networks and Engineering, and Machine Design.
Master of Computer Applications (MCA) - It is a three-year-full-time course distributed in six semesters. The course focuses on the field of Computer Network, Application Software Development, Web design and Development, Data mining Database administration, Data Warehousing, Electronics, Mobile Technologies, Logic and more. To obtain this degree, a candidate should have passed Bachelor degree examination with not less than 50% aggregate marks. The minimum percentage required for SC/ST candidates is 45%.
Master of Business Administration (MBA) – It is an on-campus two-year duration course. To get admission in this course, a candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years. It should be recognized by VTU or have passed other examination that is its equivalent. The candidates should qualify the prescribed examination with at least 50% marks in all years for a general candidate. The aggregate minimum required for SC/ST/OBC candidates is 45%.
Master of Technology (M.Tech) – It is a two-year program open to candidates having a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks aggregate in all subjects. It is 45% for SC/ST candidates. For obtaining M.Tech in Computer Applications, a candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information technology if a candidate wants to get a degree in VLSI and embedded systems he must have a bachelor’s degree in a stream of Electronics & Communication/ Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering/ Instrumentation Technology/ Telecommunication Engineering/ Electrical & Electronics/ Bio-Medical Engineering/ Medical Electronics or equivalent degree. In addition to this, a candidate must have also taken at least one exams GATE: EC, EE, IT.
The course is available in two categories that are Full time/Part time. For attaining Ph.D. in Engineering, the streams available are Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication. The eligibility criterion for obtaining this degree is that a candidate shall possess a Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology, equivalent to a minimum of 60%.
For obtaining Ph.D. in Business Administration, a candidate shall possess minimum 60% marks in MBA from a well-reputed and recognized university. To get a Ph.D. degree in Computer Applications, the academic qualification that a candidate shall possess is a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 or 60% aggregate marks. To get a Ph.D. degree in Science, a candidate should possess M.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and other such allied subjects.
