Alumni from premier B-schools including XLRI, IIM, SPJIMR, and ISB, teamed up to lay the foundations for the ‘Regional Group of Institutions’ in Gurgaon. The establishment of RGI proved to be a heaven sent for those MBA aspirants who could not make it to the topnotch B-schools but were neither interested to earn a certification from a B-grade institution. Usually, companies don’t recognize MBA degrees awarded by most of the universities in India as well as B-schools backed by individuals with dubious backgrounds.
Besides the frontline management institutions, universities, and B-schools endorsed and operated by disreputable persons, there is another category that offer MBA program. Though the postgraduate management degree of this eponymous category (of B-school) is quite sought after by employers (and hence students), most of the students cannot afford the hefty fees. This inconsistency or lacuna leaves the field open for a distinct type of B-school that’d provide quality management education at pocket-friendly rates.
The promoters of the Regional Group of Institutions or RGI joined hands to set up the B-school with the moral objective of making available world-class education at moderate rates. RGI threw open its doors to young aspirants and hopefuls in the year 2009 on 13th May, enrolling the first batch of students for the 2009-11 academic session. The Gurgaon-based B-school admits students for a few undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including BBA, MBA, MBA+PGPM, and Global MBA.
All the study programs of the institute have the approval of AICTE and UGC. The institution has partnerships with several reputed and well-known academic establishments like University of Georgia, Eaton Business School, and University of Technology, Rajasthan. These tie-ups facilitate credit transfer programs, foreign academic and corporate tours, and so on.
If you’re looking for a good reason to apply to a management program of RGI, you’ll find many. Guaranteed placement, experienced faculty, industry-oriented curriculum and pedagogy, and superior infrastructural facilities are some top features of RGI that encourage students to choose the B-school.
The library at RGI is an immense repository of knowledge and wisdom, archiving over 5,000 textbooks and 200 periodicals. The B-school subscribes to at least 10 national and international newspapers, numerous magazines, and journals that serve as robust reference material for students. Every student receives a copy of Mint (a Hindustan Times publication) every day for the entire session.
The campus also houses a large canteen that serves breakfasts, lunches, and dinners at modest rates. The canteen also serves as a veritable hang-out spot for students. The students of this B-school organize several socio-cultural events and sports competitions throughout the year.
The college authorities together with the students also arrange numerous seminars and workshops from time to time. Students who excel in the workshops and stand out in the seminars receive felicitations and cash awards. There are a few clubs established by the students that newly admitted learners are eager to join as members.
For instance, there is the Creative Corner-Activity Club that serves as an effective platform for enabling students to improve their management skills. This club routinely organizes activities including brainstorming sessions, management games, corporate programs, cultural events, power point presentations, and extempore competitions. Another association known as the Dream-Team Event Management Club helps students to hone event organization and management skills.
The management students learn how to ideate or conceptualize an event, lay out a working plan, sort out the branding strategy, pitch for sponsors, and finally stage the event. The Academic Club focuses on devising the timetable and schedule of the different management programs, including class roster, assignment submission, guest lectures, live sessions, and industrial visits.
