Chandigarh University was incepted in the year 2012 and Chandigarh University located on NH05 that connects Chandigarh and Ludhiana. The current chancellor of the university is Satnam Singh Sandhu and the vice chancellor is Prof. Anand Agarwal. The academics of CUCHD remains at the pinnacle as it offers various UG, PG, and Doctorate Programs in disciplines such as tourism, architecture, liberal arts, engineering, and management to name a few.
The university is spread in over 100 acres of land and has strength of 20k students. The number of faculty that teaches here is around 1500, so one cannot argue with the faculty to student ratio as it is comparatively high. The nearest railway station to the university is Shaibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) railway station which is 25kms from the university campus. The university has arranged buses to drop students from Panchkula to Kharar. So, even though the university is on highway one doesn’t have to worry about commuting. The university has one of the best infrastructures as the campus is now fully built and one can find all the facilities at the campus. From hostels to cafes, everything has been taken care of by the University for its students.
For Chandigarh University courses like Engineering, Management, and Medical Studies, one has to clear CUCET. Along with that, students should have a minimum of 45% in HSC to secure admissions at Chandigarh University Mohali. Some of the Chandigarh University courses that have seen maximum engagements are Hotel Management & Tourism, Business Management, Film Studies, MBA, Engineering, Interior Design, and Computer Applications among various others. Chandigarh University Placements are taken care by CCP (Corporate Connect Program). Through this, the university helps students connect with corporate and know the know-how of how industry works. The university has developed a career resource centre and students can enrol their and find better job opportunities. Some of the top placements were offered to Engineering students of 2022 batch. Some of the biggest names such as Samsung, SAP Labs, Flipkart, Wipro, and others have selected around 3500 B.Tech students. The average packages offered to students of engineering school was 5 lakhs. Around 50 students of engineering department got offer worth 15 lakhs or more.
A new benchmark was set in 2022 as one of the students received international placement with Google with an annual package of 1.7 CR and the highest domestic placement through campus placement was 52.11 LPA. The management college was not far behind either as MBA students of the university have proved their mettle time and again. Out of 800 students, 710 students received job offers through campus. The average placement was of 5 LPA while the highest international placement was of 28 LPA with Amazon Berlin. The highest domestic placements for MBA were 18 lakhs which was offered to one of the students by Go Winning. The other schools of the college saw a surge in placements as one of the Hotel Management students received a package of 18LPA which has set a benchmark for others. So, the placements of the university have peaked in 10 years of its existence in 2022.
Hostels – The Chandigarh University has 2 boy’s hostels and 3 girl’s hostels. The Boys hostel buildings are Tower 1 & 2 respectively while the girl’s hostels are named Sukhan A & B, and one of the biggest towers is the Tagore Girls Hostel. Every hostel of the university has their own mess and both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is served at the hostel mess. The hostels have a curfew time as all the hostellers have to be at the campus by 8 pm. However, the hostellers are allowed to roam inside the campus for as long as they want. The hostels are supervised by a senior and a couple of chief wardens.
Sports Facilities – From a sprawling playground to sporting facilities for sports like Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Badminton Courts, and Tennis courts, there’s no such facility that CU campus doesn’t have. Many Sporting personalities like Virender Sehwag, Neeraj Chopra, and Amarpreet Kaur have hailed the sporting facilities of the university.
Libraries – There are 14 departmental and one central library at the campus. All the libraries of the campus can be accessed electronically. Overall, the University has libraries combined has a collection of 95k thesis, 3 lakh research papers, and over 7 lakh books. The library timings are from 9am to 10pm. The UG students can avail 2 books at a time while the PG students of the university can avail 3 books at a time.
Apart from these there are various other facilities at the CIU including a market that has food courts, salon, and grocery stores. So, facilities wise, CU is fully adept in making students life more than comfortable.
