As a public university, the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences was established on November 1, 1986. It is the first institute completely dedicated towards medical education and health services. The institute is approved by multiple bodies like University Grants Commission (UGC), Medical Council of India (MCI), Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH), and Indian Nursing Council (INC).
