Dakshin Guwahati B.Ed College started its operations in 1993. It is affiliated to Gauhati University (GU) and recognised by NCTE - National Council for Teacher Education.

According to the norms of NCTE, the candidate must have completed BA / B.Com / B.Sc / MA / M.Sc / M.Com / any other equivalent with minimum 50% marks (45% marks for ST / SC / OBC / PwD.
The candidates must have qualified the Gauhati University B.Ed Common Entrance Test (GUBEDCET)

Dakshin Guwahati BEd College has numerous ICT facilities for students which include Wi-Fi availability and around 16 computer systems. CCTV and Fire extinguisher are installed for security and safety. A library is available for students which has sufficient resources for students to gain knowledge such as approximately 3000 books, encyclopaedia, periodicals, journals, etc. It also has a reading room with the capacity for around 80 people.
