Forest College and Research Institute was established in the year 1976 at Mettupalayam, Tamil Nadu. This college is near Sylvan area of Jakanari Reserved Forest. The college affiliated to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. It spreads in the field of 200 ha of the reserved forest area near foothills of Kotagiri and Nilgiri. The college locates at the height of 300 m. The college got recognition from the reputed AICTE. The management of the college is working under Dr. K.K. Suresh who is currently serving as the Dean.

Forest College Mettupalayam provides education in forestry to its students and produces capable forest administrators and self-dependent entrepreneurs. It enables a suitable environment for research on basic and advanced aspects of forestry. The aim is the innovation of new technology to improve forest productivity. The college bears the responsibility to provide training and give advice and suggestion to the tree farmers, NGOs and other organizations related to this department.
