Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University

Established in the year 2005, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University provides quality education to produce trained veterinary professionals. The University is approved by UGC as a “State University”. GADVASU Ludhiana and its four constituent colleges out of 6 are accredited by ICAR.

The University was set up to serve the livestock and fisheries sectors by disseminating international-standard and quality education, research, and extension. It aims at providing opportunities to students for continuing education in Veterinary Sciences.

GADVASU Ludhiana is providing degrees in several courses through the following colleges functioning under it:

• College of Veterinary Science
• College of Animal Biotechnology
• College of Fisheries
• College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul
• College of Dairy Science and Technology
• Veterinary Polytechnic College, Kaljharani

The different courses run by these colleges include, B.V.Sc & A.H, B.Tech (Dairy Technology), B.Tech (Biotechnology), M.V.Sc, M.F.Sc, M.Tech, M.Sc (Agricultural Economics), Ph.D, and more.

Admissions for UG and PG courses in the university are based on the marks of the applicants in either the qualifying exam or Entrance Test or both. Additionally reservation criteria are followed while admitting students to different courses in the university. Note: For all PG courses, the minimum eligible marks in the qualifying exam are 60% or OGPA equal to 6.00 on a scale of 10.

The University grants scholarships and fellowships to the reserved category candidates and to the students having excellent academic record. Meritorious students of the university receive awards, namely: Mata Ind Kaur Award, Amar-Gian Award, and Dr. Balwant Singh Memorial Award. In addition to it, gold medals and certificates are awarded to the university toppers.

GADVASU Ludhiana awards “University Scholarship” to the meritorious UG students based on the marks scored in the qualifying exam. Furthermore, the university grants scholarships like, National Talent Scholarship, PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme, Dr. G. S. Khush Scholarship, Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) Scheme-SC, and more.
