The George Telegraph Training Institute [GTTI], Kolkata was established in the year 1920 as a Private Educational Institution. GTTI Kolkata provides an annual scholarship to its students at the culmination of each year. The scholarship is provided under the Prodyut Dutta Memorial Social Welfare Scheme. The Merit rank holders and financially weak students can avail full scholarship under the scheme.

George Telegraph Institute has strong relationships with various industries and corporate sectors. In collaboration with Daikin, Bosch, and Toyota, etc. it offers on-job training and guaranteed placements to the students through Job Fair. The Board of Studies ensures that the curriculum of the course resonates with the industry standards.
Various events such as on-job training, site visit, guest lectures, student and advanced technology workshops, English language, and personality development, etc. are organised to increase the chances of employability of the students.
Public Relations Department:
The Public Relations Department of the Institute consists of a Corporate Communication Cell and a Placement Cell. The department handles the media communications and sustains a healthy relationship with various industries to provide on job training and job opportunities to the students.
Corporate Communications Placement
The Institute is a two-tier activity where placements are provided both locally and centrally. The students are provided with appropriate training on how to apply for jobs and give interviews. The Placement Cell of the Institute also remains in contact with the alumni and organises Job Fairs.

GTTI has a satisfactory infrastructural facility. Its main campus is located at 136, B.B. Ganguly Street, Kolkata. The institute has modern classrooms. There are around 2 libraries present in the Institute premises and have an enormous collection of books. It also has a computer facility with Wi-Fi connection available on computer devices and laptops.
