Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College came into existence in February 1989. Since its inception, the institute is popular for its academic excellence and facilities. The medical college was affiliated initially to the University of Pune until it is affiliated to Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) in 1996. The vision of the institute is to become the Center of Excellence in the area of Medical Education and research to fulfill the health care needs of society globally.
The mission of this medical institute is to train the students so they can be compassionate, confident and competent physicians to cater to the health care needs of the people. The College and the University are accredited A+ by NAAC and University has been in the Category-I by UGC. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India has graded it as A grade University. The clinical laboratories are accredited by NABL. The Ethics Committee, Infection Control Committee, Emergency Medicine Department and Blood Bank are accredited by NABH.
The attached hospital and the medical college are approved as Center of Excellence by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi for Eclampsia and Mother and Child health. Under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, Bharati hospital is awarded as the A+ grade by Govt. of Maharashtra. The institute offers different courses that are recognized by the Medical Council of India. Academia is also listed in the recognized medical institute’s directory of the World Health Organization. The students of this medical institution can appear for PLAB and USMLE examinations.
Bharti Vidyapeeth Medical College houses a well-equipped library that comprises thousands of medical books, journals, reference books, etc. The reading hall can accommodate three hundred people and open for twenty-four hours. Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College offers undergraduate, postgraduate and postgraduate diploma courses namely MBBS, MD, MS, fellowship in Pediatrics, fellowship in medicine, super specialty course, M.Sc, skill development course and DMLT course. For undergraduate, postgraduate, postgraduate diploma courses, the candidate must have a valid score of NEET entrance examination. For the fellowship course, the candidate must possess a post-graduation degree from a recognized medical college. Candidates willing to take admission in the super-specialty course must have completed MS or MD as per the requirement of the program. For pursuing an M.Sc course, the candidate must have completed B.Sc from the relevant discipline. Candidates who wish to pursue a certificate course must have completed a higher secondary examination (Science, Arts, and Commerce).
