Aarna Institute of Maritime Studies - AIMS Sindhudurg laid its foundation stone in 2008. The Institute offers certification in collaboration with the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA), Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB), SQA United Kingdom, and Department of Transport, Government of the United Kingdom.

AIMS Sindhudurg offers a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Marine Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates who fulfil any one of the following criteria can apply for the course:

• Passed 12^th with minimum 55-60% marks in PCM, and 50% marks in English.
• Completed Diploma in Engineering from an AICTE approved University.
• Completed B.Sc with PCM.

Candidates must be medically and physically fit. They must have proper eyesight according to the rules of the Institute and should not have colour blindness.

Application Process:

• Candidates will undergo a written test, personal interview, and physical and medical test.
• Candidates who will qualify the above will further be tested on Attitude and Aptitude towards Seafaring Profession, English Communication, Comprehension, and Seafaring Background (if any).
• They will be shortlisted on the basis of marks scored in 12^th and the above mentioned tests. In case of equal marks, younger candidates will be given preference over elder candidates.
