Maa Shakumbhari University which was initially named as Saharanpur State University was inaugurated in the year 2021 and established under the Uttar Pradesh State University Act, 2019. Currently 8 Government Colleges, 11 Aided Colleges, and 193 Financed Colleges are affiliated with the university. It is approved by UGC with a State University status.
Vision: The vision of the university is to emerge as a center of excellence in the whole world by providing education, training, and research to its students.
Mission: Its aim is to develop leadership qualities by providing high standard learning and interdisciplinary research and training to produce skilled professionals.

Students interested in taking admission in the university must register themselves through the online portal of the university. For further process related to admission students must show the registration form to the concerned college or university they have applied for along with the required documents. Students can apply for admission in more than one course at the university on a condition they meet the eligibility requirements for the courses they are applying for. Students desirous of availing any of the scholarships must consider the eligibility requirements by contacting the concerned officials at the university.
The State University named after the ancient temple of Goddess Shakumbhari Devi is located in the Saharanpur district. Apart from providing high class education the university’s location is highly beneficial to the girls and women in that area as they cannot afford to go far off places for higher studies due to lack of financial and other facilities. As the foundation stone of the university is laid recently in 2021 the university makes sure to serve all the latest and modern amenities to its students for effective learning and comfortable stay keeping in mind the present day requirements for student’s learning.
Students of the university can also access a wide range of e-learning resources from the Digital library of the university. In addition to the Digital Library there is a Bridge Library developed by the university to fill the gap between students and teachers. Under this students can interact with the teachers and resolve their queries with the help of audio and video lectures, study material and PPTs relevant to the subjects. The Library was developed during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
