Indian Law Institute, New Delhi established in 1956 is a Deemed University, currently having 35th position in NIRF Ranking 2024. Indian Law Institute New Delhi, commonly known by the name ILI, was established on 27th December 1956 to promote research in Law. The institute is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and was granted a Grade II Autonomy by UGC. It got Deemed to be University status on 29th October 2004. ILI is accredited by NAAC with “A” grade. The institute has made a notable contribution in law since its formation in 1956.
Vision: The institute is working with a vision to become a prominent institute of legal studies and research globally. It contributes its efforts to improve the management of justice to fulfill the social and economical needs of people through law.
Mission: The mission of the institute is to promote and encourage education and research in law and allied fields. To undertake its mission, it cooperates with several institutions, organisations, and societies.
Indian Law Institute provides PG, M.Phil, and Ph.D degrees. Online certificate courses in Cyber law and Intellectual Property of three months duration are also provided by ILI New Delhi.
To take admission in the institute students must fill up the application form available on the official website of ILI. The institute admits students based on the marks gained by the students in the All India Admission Test (conducted by ILI) and CAT entrance exam. Selected candidates from the entrance exam will be called for Viva-Voce. Note: Candidates appearing for the qualifying exam are eligible to apply. Their result should be announced before the date of admission.
The institute awards a number of scholarships to the meritorious students. The Merit-cum-Means scholarships are awarded to eligible students up to 5% of the total intake in the ILI. Under this scholarship half of the tuition fees will be reimbursed. The first two students admitted to one year LL.M program are awarded scholarships of Rs. 30,000 annually. The scholarship amount will be given in two equal installments, one at the time of admission and another after the 1st Semester result.
Gold medals are awarded to the students who have the highest marks in the course by ILI. If two or more students score the same marks, attendance will be considered to select the suitable candidate for the Gold medal.

ILI institute is housed in a four story building constructed opposite to the Supreme Court at Bhagwan Das Road, New Delhi. The building is built on one and a half acres of land. The management makes sure to provide all facilities for efficient learning. The Classrooms, Seminar Halls, Conference Halls are installed with modern equipment. Research facilities are updated timely to cater to the needs of modern day education. Moreover, ICT facilities like computers, photocopier-cum-printers, internet connection, etc. are available for students to provide better learning.
