There are various departments in NIT Kurukshetra:
A four year B.Tech degree course in seven engineering streams is offered by the college. Postgraduate courses like M.Tech, MBA and MCA are also offered.
To get admission in B.Tech in NITK, students are required to secure qualifying marks in JEE which is conducted by CBSE. After that a candidate has to go through CSAB or JOSAA counseling procedures.
The admissions in M.Tech are based on the scores obtained by a candidate in the GATE examination. Students can also enroll for M.Tech if they have minimum 60% (55% for SC candidates) marks in their B.Tech.
The institute offers 20+ Merit scholarships and 50+ Merit-cum-Means Scholarships to the students of B.Tech course. Apart from these National Scholarships, Post-Matric Scholarships and several other stipends are awarded by the government institutions. Students are required to fulfill the necessary eligibility criteria to avail the scholarships. Students can apply for the scholarships by filling the application forms which can be collected from the deputy registrar.
Scholarships for B.Tech students in NIT Kurukshetra are provided by the Alumni Association Scholarship which awards five scholarships in the specialisations of Civil, Computer, Electronics, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. There is also an Alumni Association medal for the best all round student of the year.
