Somaiya Sports Academy: Admission 2025, Fees, Scholarship, Mumbai

The Somaiya Sports Academy, Mumbai has been set up as an integral part of the Somaiya Vidyavihar Trust. The academy is established with the vision to create a globally recognised sports academy. Their aim is to incorporate the knowledge of sports, moral values, leadership, and confidence among the students to develop them as potential sportspersons and human beings.

The courses that are offered at the academy are:

• B. Sc Sports and Exercise Science
• M. Sc. Sports and Exercise Science
• Ph. D Sports and Exercise Science

The Admission Procedure mentioned below has to be followed by the candidates seeking admission to the institute.

For the Bachelors program:

• The candidates have to first check the eligibility criteria for applying to the particular course. After qualifying the eligibility, the candidates have to submit their best 3 sports performance certificates.
• Then they have to undergo a Physical Fitness Test.
• After clearing the fitness test, an Online Panel Interview will be scheduled.
• The next steps for the candidates are to appear for the Online SET – S (Somaiya Entrance Test) Exam.
• After qualifying all the above mentioned steps, the applicant will then be offered a provisional seat on the basis of merit seat availability. The confirmation of the seat can be done after completing the fees payment.

For the Masters program:

• The first step is to fill up the Pre-admission form that is available on the official website of the college.
• The candidate will be offered an Interim Admission on the basis of the merit availability of the seats. Interim Admission implies a provisional admission to secure the seat based on the results of Semester V examination (in case of total semesters being 6 in the Bachelors degree). Once the result of the final semester is out, the candidate can confirm the admission by completing the fees payment.
• In case the candidate is applying after the declaration of final semester results of the Bachelors Degree, a provisional seat will be offered on the merit basis. The seat can be confirmed with the complete payment of the fees. 

The Eligibility Criteria set by the institute must be fulfilled by the candidates to receive admission to the Somaiya Sports Academy. Any candidate belonging to any of the following categories may apply:

• Indian Citizen – All the Indian citizens including residents of Maharashtra, Maharashtra domicile candidates, and Gujarati Linguistic Minority candidates are eligible.
• Non-resident Indian (NRI), Person of Indian Origin (PIO), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), and all International Students are eligible to apply.

All the candidates seeking admission to the B. Sc Sports and Exercise Science Program must have cleared their 10+2 or equivalent with at least 45% marks and they must also clear the SET – S Exam.

The candidates seeking admission to the M. Sc Sports and Exercise Science Program must have cleared B. Sc Sports and Exercise Science or B. P. Ed. or its equivalent with at least 45% marks.

The Documents required during the admission are as follows:

• 10^th / 12^th or equivalent mark sheet
• Bachelor Degree Final Semester Mark Sheet (if applicable)
• Caste Certificate (if applicable)
• Maharashtra State Domicile Certificate
• Indian Nationality Certificate
• Aadhar Card and Passport Size Photographs
• Transfer certificate
• Equivalence Certificate / Migration Certificate from the concerned board (if 10+2 is cleared from other than the Maharashtra Board)
• Gap certificate / Affidavit (if any)
• Sports Proficiency Certificates
• Medical Certificate obtained from the Somaiya Medical Diagnostic Centre, Vidyavihar
• The Gujarati Linguistic Minority Candidates have to submit the “Gujarati Linguistic Minority Community Students Self Declaration” form (available on the website of the college)

Several scholarships are provided at the institute on varied basis, such as:

The candidates seeking the Need-cum Merit Based scholarships must submit the following documents:

• Ration card
• Identity Proof (Aadhar card / PAN card)
• Donation request letter
• Mark sheets of the previous examinations
• Income Certificate / Bank statement of the person earning for the family

Financial Aid

The institute also offers Financial Aid to the students to make quality education affordable and accessible for the students. To receive the financial aid, a candidate must fulfill any of the following criteria:

• Wards of Defence Personnel (deceased or disabled while serving)
• People with Disabilities
• Family income must be ≤ 8 LPA
• Candidates having State / National Representation in any recognised sport (only for B. Sc Sports and Exercise applicants)

After applying for the Financial Aid, the candidate has to undergo the Selection Process that includes the below mentioned steps:

• Along with the submission of Admission form, the candidates are expected to submit the documents asked for on the admissions portal to register for the financial aid.
• The application will then be evaluated based on the eligibility criteria. Once the applications are reviewed, the verification of documents will be done.
• All the candidates whose applications seem eligible and documents verified will then have to undergo the Interview Round.
• Financial Aid will be awarded to the applicants partially or fully (based on the evaluation). The assistance provided will be applicable during the entire program.
